Well, being a girl I don't mind any of the frippy or frilly pincushions, although I do find some strange satisfaction in sticking pins into a Beanie Baby leftover from the days when they seemed to...

Ouch! :( But how about closing the car door on the strap? Seems there were a bunch of threads a few years back about hanging from your car.
All the time. I've traveled with turtle dog and I've traveled with a standard 13' steel hammock stand that broke down into 4-5 ' sections.
A bit of furniture rearranging and there you go!

Well, it may look like a ski bag, and not weigh too- ;) - much more than a ski bag, but unless there is only one set of skis plus paraphernalia in the bag, they are going to charge you for oversized...

I guess I'm worried too about the airlines not wanting to check this bag of steel poles and wooden tripods.
Great article! Thank you Dos. I'd like to try one with the little shock cord/cord lock DIY thing the author linked to:...

Thanks for that great tip, DivaB! Keeping my eyes peeled.

REI has shock cord and sells it by the foot, I just remember it being a bit thick, but maybe 1/8".
Bump in support of my favorite tarp! Someone should grab this.
I am 5'10 and I prefer the 60" width. More comfortable lay. Had one at 56" and the feet didn't stay in as well.
Great idea Fallkniven! Ultralight too. Aris, how about using just a few small binder clips?
