I found this for you. Start watching at 12:29 and you'll get the idea of how the circle piece is pulled into the straight edge rectangle. The rest of the video is way to detailed and...
Sorry folks. I don't know what happend to the video. But this is very easy to do. Just take some scrap material and put it in the machine as I show in the illustration. Don't worry about getting...
I'll see if I can dig up the video and repost it to youtube.
So does that make your grid / black setup "heavy"? Sounds comfy... just wondering how beefy it is.
Could you share a pic of it? Sounds nice!
Just a thought... no idea if it would hurt the truck. Just need some long webbing to go from front hooks. Might be too much stress on the roof though.
I didn't really use a pattern. This was my first attempt and I'm happy with it. Now I just need some cool weather.
I basically read a ton of threads and decided that I wanted a full length (head...
Yep I got mine from thru-hiker. I bought 4 yards... 2 for UQ and will be using the other 2 for a TQ.
Ok so I resprayed my bug net last night... different than how I did it before. Last time I sprayed it while it was hung up (but without the hammock in it). This time I laid it out on some plastic...
I'm going to be trying this on a new hammock as soon as my material ship.
But right now I have an ENO DN and for the life of me I cannot get rid of all the loose material where my head lies. I...
That would be killer... I've thought about it but I have a 5.5' bed. You could also think about something that slides into the hitch receiver (thinking about a bed extender or something)... just...
Around here (NC) they hang out in the garage waiting for me to open the door. I'll be applying more spray this weekend.
Thanks FLRider!!!! What picaridin product do you recommend? I see REI has a few options.
I used the Sawyers (24oz bottle) spray to treat my hammock and bug net. I keep reading about folks that say permethrin creates a "no-fly zone" for skeeters. I'm wondering if maybe I didn't use...
I'd change one thing... I'd use a black DWR for the outer shell. The fabric I used is non-DWR so I'll probably treat it myself. I think the design is solid and I'd do it the same way again.
I don't know... I've read it should get you down to 30 but I get cold. We'll see.
Just wanted to share my setup... it works for me (car camping).
I use the guardian bug net and haven't had any problems with it. I also have the sides pulled out to give me some room.
When I'm...
Weight = 25.8 oz
It was supposed to be brown, but with the fabric is translucent so it ended up being more of a golden color
4 yards 1.1 ripstop = $16
2 yards Climashield Apex = $32
25 feet shock cord = $6
Cord locks = $5
Considering shipping and the fact that I already had some black ripstop to use... let's call...
I've had a sewing machine for about 2 weeks and I just made an UQ using 5oz Climashield Apex. Thanks to a lot of pics, suggestions, etc on this forum I was able to knock this out with no problems at...
[QUOTE=SweetLou;795155]Thanks, that was the easiest I have made a stuff sack. My tarp fits in it nicely. I will make more like this. Now I just need to turn this one into a Bishop Bap.
Looks great!
Ok... updated my previous post with video..
Yea the oatmeal doesn't compress too well
One piece of detail might be missing in the 3rd image... do a few stitches and then work to rotate the circle so that the line on the circle meets up with the straight line; keep the large fabric...
I think I've seen the method you mention in your video... pinning a round bottom in place and then stitching it in. If that's what you are talking about I think I have an easier way that ends up...
Is it common knowledge how to make a round bottom stuff sack? I just figured out how to do it and it's super easy. I haven't found anything on here that really talks about how to do it.
I'm almost ready to start a DIY UQ. I've read a ton on here and feel confident in my ability to construct, but I'm not sure what I want to use for (non-down) insulation. I was thinking about...
Well I don't need to carry it around, but it would be nice to have something smaller as long as it could still handle something large like a tarp. I don't see any 301's for sale in my area. I'm...
I want to buy a used machine and there are a few Singer Featherweights for sale. Will it do what I need for sewing ripstop, etc? I know a few of you on here have one, but I just want to make sure...
