Howdy, Jonathan here. I know it's gauche to give yourself a trail name, but I didn't have one forever, and finally just took on JCHaywire many years ago. I love wire. Electronics projects, radio...

Howdy, Jonathan here. I know it's gauche to give yourself a trail name, but I didn't have one forever, and finally just took on JCHaywire many years ago. I love wire. Electronics projects, radio...
Ha! I'm interested, too. Just slid into Seattle a couple years ago, and really ready to get out hanging--perhaps in this area. Do tell!
I often use these rappelling rings when tying a ridgeline or other utility line at a campsite. Like where you'd put the loop in a Trucker's Hitch. I specifically would like a smaller ring--like 1"...
Is there any significance to the "GF" in morse at the end of your video? (Excellent editing, by the way.)
I can't believe I didn't get my sorry a$$ out for this event. And all this time I'm right here'n the hood by Lake Como. Thanks, Shug, for being a beacon of sorts. A goofy beacon--a prattlin' on YT...
Get the down wet first. Then you can easily scoop it out--or even rinse it out into a screen--and after you're sewn up, you can dry it.
I live in St. Paul, MN. My brother lives in Seattle. We are determined to get together for a few days between here and there come February 2015. Yellowstone Nat'l Park happens to be midway between...
KC7QNX, I'm formerly 7J1AWL and XV2OC. Settled down in MN now, but wishing we were out in 7 land where I was licensed.
Best 73,

Native of Manchester, IA, sojourned in Seattle, Tokyo, and finally settled in St. Paul. Velkommen!
Hm. Very intriguing. I plan to open 'em up and give a full report. But... the road to hell is paved with good intentions. In due time.
OP here. I'm interested.
Will send IM.

I purchased 2-750FP pillows supposedly filled with 28oz of goose down in November last year for 170$. I have not weighed them to report on the exact amount of down, but can verify that the 750FP...
Just picked up three here in the Twin Cities area (MN) at two different stores. They were in the clearance area at both stores, for some reason and less than 40$ each. Good project bags, and I'll...
I already have a pair of Medium GoLite "speedpacking" backpacks. They are good for really light loads, but I want something that is light but allows me 25-30+ lbs of stuff. That's too much for my...
Not that it necessarily matters here, but I noted while feeding Hanky that his cans are aluminum--and the pull-top leaves a nice "ledge" for a lid in the Foster's can pot. However, my flaring process...
I'm awaiting delivery on:

Two 28OZ 750FP down pillows. My guess is that they are filled with less than 28oz each; I mean, who...
What a depressing trip, man. I stopped into the Anoka, MN KMart, crossing the immense, empty parking lot and traipsed in to find downy, salvageable, wildly underpriced pillows. KMart's are ghost...
I guess I should have clarified that I am looking to find a SECONDARY source--pillow, comforter, etc.--for 700-800FP down. 92$ for a pound may be a good deal for new down purchased from an outdoors...
Reviving an old thread with a perennial question: Any 800FP pillows out there to be had reasonably? A couple pounds o' down for a reasonable price?
What's the word?
Thanks,
KC7FYS
I mailed these out before the July 4th holiday. Let me know when they arrive, and I thank you for participating!
Jonathan
Withdrawal noted.
OK, I have you in this order.
I unspooled it into hanks of 52-ish yards. Turns out the spool had way more than I thought. So there's six hanks. You responded in this order:
JMR
Black Wolf...
OK, you're person #1 and the 50 yard hank--I measured out 150+foot hanks and put them in quart ziploks--will be 15$ shipped.
Paypal. And I would appreciate the courtesy of you paying the fee....
OK, when I get home from work, I'll weigh one. The postage should be negligible. I'll put it up that way. Seems like a good way to do this.
Jonathan
OK, let me start doing 50yd hanks, then. What's a fair price, guys?
I have half of my roll of wick, and I'm not gonna use it. 42$ shipped. I'll put a huge hank in a flat rate envelope for you. Or if you want me to ship you the spool also, let's make it 45$.
Jonathan
That's funny you'd say that, because hammocking got us IN to swinging.
I just watched the down eductor video and I'm completely floored. I can't wait to get home from work to get started on my next UQ, because this device has me INSPIRED! And it has a super cool name....
I gave up a long time ago. Somebody just kept the whole box.

Are we settling on Dec 3rd? Who's good on that date?

It worked well for me.
Jonathan
Me three. What I have exter, I'll letcha use.
Jonathan
I'm good Dec 3rd or Nov 19th.
Brrr... Whoo hoo!
I'm down for it, as they say.
Now my poop and Shug's comingle as one in the blessed earth of Section 13.
As many have said, I was immediately struck by the video featuring huggerless hanging. I, too, am a giant fan of the stovemaker--but probably won't engage in shade-tree psychology on this one. It...
Excellent photos, Skygzr. Looks like a very nice crew--and contrary to what my wife supposed, there were women among the crew as well. Next year we'll join you.
By the way, did anyone lose a...
Fronkey, your stamina is legendary!
Your UQ performed like a champ-een, and Sarah and I thought for sure we were just hours behind you on Sunday afternoon when we pulled into the lower camp of Section 13 (we didn't know about the upper...
We're likely to follow your route exactly, but just be a day behind you. We may not cross paths, but we will surely follow the same SPIRITUAL path, Grasshoppah.
Naked, hm. On second thought Fronkey, I take back that remark about ogling.
Golly that's nice. You give a feller the sniffles with that kind of talk.
You're a great asset to the hobby.
Backup support for Sector Seven,

My wife and I got a reprieve from the kids, and are headed to the North Shore for a tandem hang. I got her a WBBB, and planned to sew up a second DIY UQ, but didn't ever get around to it. Now I find...
Kc7fys and XYL (that's me'n my darling wife) may cross paths with y'all. We start our couple-hang on Sat am, near there. We could at least shake hands and ogle your equipment. Then go on our merry...
What's your asking price? I'm interested, but it's hard to tell if it's a good deal or not.
Jonathan
May I dibs the stakes?
PM on the way.
This video, in one of SE's most brilliant moments of satire, brings up something I was thinking, while hanging in the back yard: What options have people implemented with poles--in my case, in the...
I'm watching this thread for information. My grandpa in Cedar Rapids, (95 and not showing signs of slowing down) said the Yellow River area is nice. I may re-locate our North Shore hang for Mid...
Depending on dates, I'd like to stop through an Iowa hang. I'm from Manchester, IA, and I know the beauty of NE Iowa firsthand. We will be headed down to Strawberry Point in the next week or so, and...
I got what I wanted. Thread closed with my thanks to all who responded.
