Great advice. Thanks!
Planning on making the drive over to ride some of the trails Thursday, hang Thursday night, and ride Friday. I wont be trying for one of the backcountry sites so I was wondering if anyone has hung...
Thanks for the link, I will join.
interesting
interesting
gps4 and I will be hanging in the Black Hills, too bad it will be about 2 months after this... Coming through the end of October on our way after some pheasants. I highly recommend the hot granny...
Definitely interested, but will have to see how work schedule shakes out.
We hiked to Eagle Creek Falls (I think) during the fall hang at Wolfpen. Nice area down there.
This is the route I've gone. Before I got into hammock camping I already had a nice down bag. I couldn't see spending $200+ for a top quilt when I had something that served the same purpose. It's...
It seems to me you are asking about crossing the sipsey fork at the 209/202 junction, or possibly where the 209 crosses and goes uphill to 201, not just at the 209/200 junction. If you are flexible...
If this somehow falls through, I'd like to be second in line.
I've had my RG for not quite a year now, and I have yet to stake out the sides. I've never had a problem with the net being in my face. What are these wings of which you speak? Is this some new...
And with 100% chance of thunderstorms for Saturday, we may postpone our plans.
Sorry, Saturday. I'm stuck working Friday.
We are shooting for 2-3pm. Hopefully gps4 firewood will dry out between now and then. I'll bring my grill. Man, I'm ashamed to admit that it's been since early October since I've slept overnight...
Nothing firm yet, but probably mid-afternoon. I'll post up something more definitive when it gets closer.
Not to steal your thunder, but gps4 and I are looking at Rocky Springs for that weekend (weather permitting). All are welcome
Yeah, it would be a drive for one night. I'll keep it in mind, but Rocky Springs is a lot closer to home and may be more feasible for me.
I've actually hung here before (although it was only for an afternoon nap while I was canoeing Black Creek). I am off that weekend and am tempted to make it. Is this is just a Saturday day/night...
Hate I couldn't make it, but work got in the way. I'll try to keep an eye out for the possibility of a Rocky Springs hang later in the year or early next year.
Just drove through this little slice of paradise. There is some beautiful country up there.
But other than that, I don't really have any suggestions
Hanging between memphis and little rock? I hope your suspension is extra long...
gps4 and I saw one crossing the road after leaving the group hang.
I wouldn't give it a second thought. Go to Sipsey.
One time I forgot the Maker's Mark. Luckily my buddy had some Wild Turkey 101. Improvise, adapt, overcome.
What is the forecasted high? Around here at 52 I don't worry about bugs.
Cheap carpet remnants that can be discarded after a flood.
My first hammock was a SMR solo (the owner of the company is from my town and served on a local race committee with me). I enjoy the hammock, but couldn't bring myself to pay the price for a nube.
Hint: look for new construction in your area. If there is one thing construction workers love, it is cold beer. I traded a $7 six pack of beer for a half roll of tyvek when the new McDonalds was...
And apparently I'd had too many Shiners since I took a sideways picture.

The only picture I snapped. Enjoying a cool evening by the fire while Squidbilly's (delicious) chilli simmers.
Glad to be there. It was nice to meet you and the others. Thanks again for the awesome chili and leading the hikes.
How was today's hike?
Gps4 and I should be rolling in around 4 or so. We will play it by ear, but plan on hiking in and camping by the river Saturday night. Something about the sound of running water that helps to melt...

I made some memories on the 224. Too bad I remember them
I was just making light of the fact that the times I've made the 5+ hour drive it's rained over 2" each time.
The waterfalls should really be flowing good the weekend of this hang. Every time Ive made the drive to the Sipsey it has rained. I don't know why the weekend of Oct 3rd would be any different
Ever hiked the black creek trail? I've canoed black creek, but never hiked the trail
gps4 and I are pencilling this in. It's my wife's birthday on the 3rd, but she'll have one of those every year.
Satellite dish and generator, like folks do at their tailgates.
Watching for dates.
Are the campsites able to be reserved, or is it a first-come first-served type basis? If they can be reserved, what date are you wanting to get a final count by? My pheasant trip dates have been...

Sorry I couldn't make it. Hope everyone enjoyed it. Been around 22 years since I've been to Askew's
I'll keep a keen eye on the weather.
Hmmm. Depends on the rain for me (which it appears we may have in abundance). I'm not really equipped for much rain.
I've had my 4yo share my hammock with me overnight. Worked fine for us.
I'd be interested in another hang as well, seeing as how the dates for HNF won't work for me.
