is this a top loader or a bottom loader?
simplicity can be very beautiful, as this moment is.
tq's that are competitively sized are sometimes too small. i have no issues with my giant tq, a marmot sawtooth extra wide extra long sleeping bag. i cant imagine sleeping with anything else.
it...
it really isn't you can just grab a permit at certain park kiosks, put your name, scribble some shelters or camp spots, and go on your way.
the smokies are too good of a place to miss because...
eventually frozen shoes are a reality in the right conditions. a good fire can help dry them off or at least keep them warm..
if they are already wet and or frozen do not dream of taking them in...
what size should i get for one inch webbing
i am trying to go to the descender ring set up, however its only for my tarp, so they don't have to be strong.
where can i find cheap rings on line?
Shug is wierd... :")
and i thought i knew it all...
poor thing? :)
pack is no longer for sale... i start working at amicalola lodge on monday.
trust me friends, this was the first hammock quilt i ever purchased, it was the first time i felt that fuzzy warmth in a hammock. i am aware of its collector value.
however, lately it is only...
I have a fifty degree speer peapod, used but in good condition. i am looking for a so so underquilt to use instead, it must be able to fit an ENO double and i am a tall guy. maybe 2-3 inches of...
price is now 80 dollars shipped.
trying to hammock with a fire close is not wise to me. the only situation where it would seem prudent would be if you know there would be little wind, you know how to control the size of the fire...
yes i have been blowdowned to death on my past two winter hikes. nothing worse IMO than constant, scratchy, crawly, limboing blowdowns every ten yards.
one of those trips was in the smokies

i second a GA hang. high shoals camp ground and blue falls near hiawasee is a great spot. only 1.2 miles to some nice falls.
bump.........
congrats on the ULA decision. best one you could have made.
just my 2 cents, i think its rather commendable your making these sacrifices for your boy. i know i would be one ugly dude if my parents didnt fork out the cash for braces.
not trying to discourage you, you never know...
just a friendly warning. :)
i dont know a whole lot about motion sickness, but i would think that its not much a concern. the friend will probably roll around alot on the ground n e way.

The pack is a size large, the color is red clay and grey. it is a full featured pack.
price reduced to 100 dollars shipped.
i am gonna warn you man, i have a a ULA conduit and its probably one of the last things i would sell out of my gear collection.
IMO, the only person who would let one go would get a new one or...
they can definitely get too warm, i was out with my pea pod a few weeks ago and woke up way too warm, sent the insulated pad flying out the hammock. then i was slightly chilled for a little while...
bump.........
i just throw it all under my bed. my mom complains. at least you live with a wife and not your parents.
from my understanding, if a shelter is full and you have a thru hiker permit you can camp in the shelter area, and that could include hammock camping.
you know it. they called me a 'troubled user.'
ahem. so, cannibal, you gonna post it over there or what? :)

I obtained two of these packs through a generous deal. I am keeping one, selling the other one which is brand new. these are nice packs that are easy to load...
cannibal, sometimes 'free range' chicken farms are merely farms where the same old chicken houses have doggie doors, that the chickens don't even use.
i respect the principles but sometimes the...
I have a navy blue/royal blue North Face Surge Daypack for sale. It is in new condition, only used it one semester at college. The tiny hipbelt has been cut off and its really not practical to have...
i second this. i used slap straps in a permanent (well, for a whole summer at rafting outpost) setting and found a little stretching but not much. hammock never dragged to the ground or anything. ...
its not that bad. but its more like a 30*
my friends and i routinely get the idea, late in the evening, sometimes after drinking, to go on night hikes and camp out. sometimes the whole trip is under 12 hours.
a general rule of thumb is that if you are going to sleep, and still have so much extra gear that you don't know where to put it, you have too much. IMO
what have you learned about these peapods? i have an older one, gray on inside green on outside. do you know the specs? all i know about mine is that it is thin. probably 2 inch loft with sewn...
i have found them to be other than 'extremely durable.'
had one snap on me as i was pushing it in the ground, because i had a bad angle and was not applying all the pressure vertically, if...

i thought they were zippers as well, at least the new ones, but guess not. my old one is sweet, i scored it off here a while back.
Fastest case scenario, 6-8 days. I can't remember how long it took me on my thru, i am thinking right about seven. Cause it took me two weeks to make fontana.
i'd rather get any advice here i...
thanks.
i only said it cause you admitted it. :D
all in good fun.
Disclaimer: maybe its not better than a HH, i know i got all Billy Mays on ya'll!!
The hammock is fine. The complaints of durability, unparallel seams, uncomfortable seams, etc, are all elitist delusion. This parrot bay hammock has more features than a hennessey, lighter than...
i had one at one point, they are wider than JRB if i remember correctly. They are wide enough to use on the ground, plenty wide for a hammock. i don't remember the specs but i think a few folks on...
congratulations. i wish i could say the same.
its funny when you meet new hammockers starting thru hikes on the AT. like in early march, you ask them what they use for insulation: "Oh, my sleeping bag, duh" i just smiled and said OK.
