That looks like a Singer 1200-1 Dressmaker.

The table is probably a production model but might have been shortened.
You're right, it's a BF not Esperia. I've read on other forums that Necchi changed the logo, dropped the V, in 1950 so your machine was made sometime after WWII and before the logo change. Does it...
I believe that it's a straight stitch Esperia from the late 40's early 50's. It's a quality machine with all metal components capable of making hammocks, packs, etc. There are a couple Necchi Yahoo...
I'm not sure of the year of manufacture but it looks exactly like the bag in the review and was purchased 3 years ago. We have two dogs and the bag was hung in a closet which they can't access. ...

Call David at Oware and see what he has available. He's currently offering 15 yards batches of grey or white silnylon 2nds for $39, $2.60 a yard, plus shipping but might be able to find you a roll. ...
delete - Oware silnylon sale info already posted
I ordered the 2nds.
I just received my order of the 2nds. It came in two sections with the shorter piece measuring 10ft 4inches. It's very nice fabric with only about 2 feet having noticeable thin white streaking.
Oware is selling 20 yard batches of sage grey 1.1 oz silnylon 2nds for $60 shipping included.

I need some blue vx-21 to complete a project and Rockywoods no longer has any available. Does anyone know of another source or have some surplus they would be willing to sell? I just need a half...
Your chute is probably a 24ft diameter T-10. I'm not sure what weight fabric was used in the 1960's but later models were made from 1.1oz nylon. Military chutes have a service life of under 20...
I need a half yard or more of blue VX-21 for a project. PM me if you have some. Thanks
There is an Elna Yahoo group "elnaheirloomsewingmachines" which should have the user and adjusters manuals for your machine in their files. Between the two you should be able to get your machine...
My order of brown silnylon arrived on Friday too. There are streaks on the first and last 18-24 inches. I'm impressed with the fabric and really like the color.
The dark fabric shown in the...
Oware has black and brown seconds for sale at $2.50 a yard, 10 yard minimum order. Free shipping. The streaks are excess silicon and don't impact the fabrics performance....
I think your Signature might be a side loading class 15 machine. If so, this bobbin case from Sew Classic might work:...
"Does anyone have any experience with the Slant-needle setup and thick/heavy materials?"
I've used a 503 on a number of projects where it had to sew through 7 layers of 1000d cordura, X Pac VX42,...
The older slant foot Singers -401a, 403, 501a, 503- have the features you're after and are some of the best machines ever produced by the company. They'll handle any typical DIY project including...

Fabricsupplier is selling 72" 1.1oz calendered gray and royal blue ripstop. They were offering discounts to forum members so send them an email before buying it off of Ebay.

Has anyone made a down quilt with their 1.1oz calendered fabrics? If so, is it downproof or did it leak? I'll be using 800 fill down. Thanks
I've placed three orders with Scott and have recieved each in less than a week. Communication was excellent. I'll definitely do business with him again.
Does anyone know where I can buy 3 inch plastic looplocks? Quest, OWFI, Rockywoods, etc carry the 2 inch version but none of the usual suspects seem to carry a larger model. Thanks
Nice find especially for $30. You might find these Yahoo groups useful.

You can get by without zigzag as others have said but if you work with webbing often or decide to make packs it's worth having a machine which will allow you to bartack. The old Necchi BU, BU Nova,...
I own a 15-91 and BU, the earlier version of the BU Nova. Both are great machines but I'd choose the Necchi if it is in sound working condition. It does zig-zag stitching which allows you to...
I ordered 20+ yards of the 30d ripstop from them a couple weeks ago and the transaction went smoothly. I had corresponded with several forum members before placing the order and had been advised...
Go with the 201-2 over the 247 c. The 201-2 is all metal and will handle any of the sewing tasks needed for outdoor gear.
I've attached a couple pictures showing the base of a 1936 201-2 that...
It can be used without the cabinet. Loosen the two small screws on the underside of the machine which attach it to the hinges and it will pull free from the cabinet.
It is a 201-2 and they are one of the best machines Singer produced. Here's a link to the manual:...
I've seen several weights listed for the 90x70 denier digital ripstop. Are you sure it weighs 2 oz a yard? I'd like to use it for a tarp but weight is a major concern.
Thanks
Great timing. I'll take 4 yards and will also buy some VX21 if you can get a good price on it. I sent you a pm with my contact information.
Thanks
Nice, 503's are good machines but use slanted shank presser feet, the
15-91 uses low shank, so they're not interchangable. The slanted feet are easy to find as well as the top hat cams. The O...

The 99 is a nice basic workhorse and worth picking up the price is right.
I have a newer Singer 1411 for light fabrics but this 64 year old 15-91 is my work horse and favorite.

The olive green fabric is really nice and a steal at that price.
This is a great thread but no one has given us a long term review yet. It would be great to read some field reports from the folks who have treated and used their tarps over the past several years.
Thanks for the information. I was hoping that it was closer to 2oz with the coating. Does anyone know where to find O.D. green silnylon or a lighter waterproof camouflage fabric? Weight and bulk...
Do you know how much a square yard of the fabric weighs?
I came back from exploring the area around my campsite last weekend and found two kids poking around my gear so it's time to make a tarp which is harder to spot. Has anyone used this fabric?...
The olive drab fabric Scott's selling is really nice and a steal at that price. I've used it to make a down quilt and light jacket and haven't experienced any loss of down.
