Shug...your videos are better than comedy central! :D My favorite is still "Sling Boil" ;)
5 deg F in ENO hammock w/thermarest pad and military sleep system ( http://www.militarysurplusdepot.com/sleep_system_4_piece_reissue.html ) wearing midweight poly thermals. Warm all night.
Interesting...
anyone know why this is?
Incredible. Thank You.
This is my problem. I want a camo tarp so I guess I'm forced to buy one which is heavier than silnylon...
My favorite hammock is an ENO Double. Cheap, super comfortable, and easily replaced as I've seen them in quite a few Outfitters along the AT between VA > PA...
This seems like a decent camo tarp despite the weight for the $$$. I can't seem to find a cheaper one that is cat cut along the ridgeline...

It says its cat cut but looks pretty straight.
Hennessy catenary cut CAMO ASYM HEX FLY...

Anyone have one? reviews? price seems great at $69...

thx 4 the info...
I 2nd the figure 9's...these are the ones I carry and are practically weightless...

Line-loks look nice though...I bet the weight is about the same...
I might be able to make it. Its a little early to know but I marked it on my calendar.
I have been using a Noahs 12 for some time now. I have a few pics in my gallery. I little on the heavy side (2lbs) but I can cover 2 hammocks with it if we're (my son and I) set up in a V. I can also...
I'm interested in the WB bugnet also. I need another bugnet for my son's hammock.
You can pre-order items from the catalog if you call them. I was talking to them last week and they told me that they had a bunch of pre-orders in for the underquilt.

The best hammock is the one that you sleep the best in...
I also use these biners and they are wire-gate. Are there any biners lighter than the NANOs and as strong?
I've been using the ENO bugnet for two summers with no problems. I removed the stuff sack to save weight and normally keep it in my sleeping bag while in my pack. The material still has no snags or...
Very nice! reminded me of a beautiful wood hammock stand that I once saw...

Oh I need more coffee. I just re-read your first post and saw that...
My summer pack, Osprey Kestrel 48 (size large/2800cu.in.), is only comfortable up to 30lbs. Just like you, the straps get a little uncomfortable if I get above that. As long as I keep the weight in...
I just got back from the PA->WV hike (40mi). Turns out the I packed all the right stuff for this trip. The only two items that I did not use the entire time were the head bugnet and the thermal...
You're right sparrow. thx. I just added the extra t-shirt/shorts...
I'm leaving for a 4 day hike in a few hours. I wrote down everything as I put it in my pack. Weather will be highs in the 80s with lows to upper 50s with isolated t-storms the last 2 days. Please...
Just changed the batteries in the camera...
Anyone know if there are any good swimming holes between Pen Mar > Harpers Ferry?
Looks like its going to be really hot the next few days...
Thx. I was up on Peters Mtn the other day about 1mi N of 225 and hit the "Berry Motherload" near the power lines. I stuffed my face for a good 30mins and had stained fingers for the rest of the day :)
I know this is short notice but if anyone wants to join me for a 40mi. section hike from Pen Mar (PA/MD line) to Harpers Ferry, WV, I'll be leaving from Pen Mar tomorrow around noon and plan on...
Sweet! Millheim is a little over an hour away from me. I can't hang on Sat. night but I'm in for the tasty brews on Sunday. I'll meet you @ the Alehouse Rev...
I've used a DIY underquilt inside the bugnet without any "press up" issues. There is plenty of space...
I've seen a steady increase in hammock hangers among AT hikers in the past 3-4 years. Many hanging thru-hikers seem to still be staying by the shelters at night.
Sometimes I'm stealth, sometimes...
After reading about this hammock on the Clark site, I'm interested in hearing more too...
2 main reasons...
1. they are nylon and stretch a lot
2. lack of adjustment. sometimes that "perfect hang" is right between the given loops
I'm in the process of switching over to polypro...
They look like a cheap version of slapstraps...I hate my slapstraps!!!
yep.....just paracord with a couple loops in it so that I could adjust how far it hung below me
Once I get rid of the stupid slapstraps and switch over to a polypro cinch buckle setup, I'm going to try to hang a single under my double so that my 9yo son can sleep below me. We'll see if I can...
I got the ENO catalog in the mail the other day and saw the underbelly...
http://www.sandslave.com/eno2009catalog/image-html/IMG_6361.html
so I decided to take an extra singlenest along with me...
I hadn't thought about it this way...makes more sense to me now. I could just leave the straps attached to the cinch buckle adapters all the time. Biner to hammock, biner on strap at tree, adjust...
I guess you could save 10 seconds or so with the extra biners. I agree that that extra biner could save some friction wear. Seeing that webbing is so cheap and that I'm not too concerned with...
Ok thx. That's what I'll order. I'm leaving to hang on the Tuscarora Trail in about an hour...you'll have to join us next time Rev...
Hey Rev! Thanks man! I'm going to take you up on that offer. I'm going to order some cinch buckles from onrope1.com and also some polypro webbing from strapworks.com...
question?
strapworks...
Thx for the pic and the link. Great video! My one question is why is the 2nd biner used on the treeside instead of just running the line thru the loop on the end like you would with a slap strap?...
agreed! and its so heavy...
Hi everyone. I'd really like to stop using the slap straps and go with some 1in non-nylon webbing with cinch buckles as my suspension setup. I found this pic in the gallery......
Spidennis, have you put that floor on the bugnet yet?
This thread has me thinking of making an underquilt out of an extra bivy and old 20deg sleeping bag.
here's a pic of the bivy...

Although the military gore-tex bivy is heavy (about 2 lbs), I find that I carry it most of the year. The thing is impenetrable! I have slept on the ground in thunderstorms and woken up with my feet...
