Well some how we lost the stakes, and it was raining pretty heavily by the time we got to the campsite, so we ended up calling it off. Wasn't a good start and we got there pretty late
Thanks for all the tips everyone, it's not raining yet so hopefully we'll get one good night out there. We'll be leaving in a couple hours after I'm off work(on lunch). I'll report back on how it...
it's a tarp that came with a siam hammock. I'll be the one with the smaller tarp, so i'll probably just keep it as low as I can and do my best to angle it against the wind
Hey everyone,
I'm not a regular backpacker, but I make at least 1-2 backpacking trips a year, and am planning on becoming a more regular backpacker now that I am out of college and have free...
Sorry for the late reply, but we've found a hammock setup! thanks everyone who sent me an offer.
I need a new complete setup for a hammock. My fiance wants to go camping with me, and I only have one hammock. I'm only looking for a hammock with a functioning mosquito net, because we live in...
If you don't have a camping trip coming up really soon, I'd get some whoopie loops instead, and skip straps altogether. I went the cheap ratchet strap route when I was running short on time my first...
You guys think it's worth the extra $20 and 50 ounces to get the hex? I really don't need anything other than a tarp to cover me when I'm sleeping, but I'm also not super concerned with going ultra...
Hey Guys,
I know there are a lot of threads out there like this, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the claytor diamond tarp and the Hennesy hex(I'd be getting the cheaper polyester hex). ...
Just thought I'd update I ended up going with some arrowhead whoopie loops, and got some carabiners from that site cowboy sent me
Can't wait to take it out in a week or so
I'm looking for something simple and easy to use. I'd prefer not to make it myself, just because I know from experience that diy projects tend to cost way more than I ever plan.
I think I fixed...
Hey everyone,
I went hammock camping a few weeks back, and have decided to start making monthly hanging trips out to this great hiking/camping loop I've found. However I decided before I go I'm...
So I got back from my first hanging trip to Eagle Rock Loop, and it was pretty good. I used the Byer Moskito hammock, and for any newbies who come on here searching for a good beginner hammock I do...
I guess I'll just bring it just in case, thanks for the advice guys!
hey I'm hiking the eagle rock loop this sunday, and I'm starting to weigh all my gear. My sleeping bag is 4 lbs, and its starting to get pretty hot outside. I've never slept in a hammock, but I...
ok, so i ended up getting some ratchet straps with a working load of 433 lbs, and a breaking load of 1300 pounds with hooks on the end. I may just end up ordering from tree to tree for my next hang....
Ok, so I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this with the proper equipment, so I think I actually might just order a suspension kit...
It's a byer moskito hammock, it doesn't come with suspension, just the hammock and the bug netting.
would something like this work on 1" polyester webbing?

Ok, so tractor supply had what I needed, but it was fairly expensive. I'm thinking I could probably overnight something from strapworks for roughly the same price, and get exactly what I want. ...
There is actually a tractor supply right behind me, I'll go check real quick, how much webbing/ratchet straps should I get?
Hey guys, just got my hammock in the mail, and I'm planning on leaving this weekend for a trip. The only problem is I can't seem to find any webbing. I've been to ****'s and home depot so far, and...
I'm planning on using a cff pad for bottom insulation, and a sleeping bag for top. I live in an apartment complex, so I was planning on testing it out in some woods nearby whenever I have free time,...
don't worry I will, I'm planning on going a week from tomorrow granted my hammock arrives as planned on Monday. Planning on using webbing, and buckles as my 1st suspension, and might attempt a...
thanks guys, I feel a bit better knowing I should be good for this trip
that sounds like a pretty nice idea, if I can't find a walmart tarp for like $5 I may have to borrow that idea if it's not too pricey
So I'm going on my first hammocking trip, and I'm going as cheaply as I can. I'm just now graduating with no job, and thought now would be a good time to take a 3 day trip backpacking while waiting...
Well of course I missed the bottom insulation subforum. I guess I'll be using one of my cff's(that's those blue camping cushions right?) instead of a blanket. HammocksOnly, I'm hoping to get out...
Hey guys, first post! been getting situated here and checking out all the info, which has been awesome. I just ran into the idea of using a hammock instead of a tent, and I love it. I'm a little...
