I'm actually planning on riding my unicycle - that's why I need to think every stage through, and plan what I'm going to carry.
I've done a few week-fortnight long shake downs with my hammock, but...
I've been researching this bit of the route for my PanAm ride. I knew I should have searched here. I think I might have to take a pile of hammock gear for this section.
I usually use mine as the peak bag, but putting anything heavy in there will pull on the stitching. Mine hasn't failed yet, but I won't be surprised if it does eventually wear through.

If you're worried about the strength issue, you could try using different knots. A double figure of 8 on each end and alpine butterfly hitches for the middle knots would decrease the rating much less...
