i did a trip in the ADKs where we rented 'plastic' green canoes. another where we used roto molded sea kayaks. never again.

i agree that pack weight does play a role... but i also do a ton of long distance cycling and browse another forum - its fun to read the weight weenie forums to see how folks will spend a grand or...
i looked at one of those... didn't really think it would make adjusting easier.
fwiw i've got some figure 9s for my tarp... but moved to treehuggers larks headed onto rings. i then use my stock HH...
finally got my figure 9 mini's yesterday.
going to use them for tarp tightening...
i'm moving to rings and rope for suspension - so i didn't get the large version - but they did look like they...
ok. so i'll add another post, even though i'm in the ring buckle camp, but with rope.
is the point of this an easy way to get the webbing on and off the tree?
by the time you add a gate aren't you at a biner?
by the time you shrink the tolerances haven't you removed the 'easy' part...
wondering if this would work with a biner through the rings, biner then on to the strap, then tie off? or do the rings need to be held together tight on one end for this to work?
