The frayed area really doesn't look too severe. If it were me, I'd take a lighter and carefully melt those fuzzy bits until they were flush with the strap. That will keep the frays from catching on...

Just a sharp spot or a little piece of metal that didn't get removed during manufacturing.
Is it the stock Blackbird strap or aftermarket?
Is there a burr on the buckle or rings?
Squirrel damage? :rolleyes:
