I bought one last year from REI Garage. I got the hammock and the underquilt. They are an excellent pair for most situations but I have a Jacks or Better for really cold weather.
WOW....sure wish I could be there.
I was impressed that everything you needed to hang was included right out of the bag. All straps, tarp, lines and stakes. For someone that wants to get into hammocks this would be a good start.
the thicker rings work much better than the thin ones and don't cause the damage to the lines.
Is this going to be up at the cliffs or just down from the parking area near the creek.
So you are wanting to hang about 1.5 miles north from the parking. Just wanting to get the right place.
It is $100 to change the battery per the reviews on Amazon
you would be surprised to find out how easy it is to get CBS even when it is warm outside.
Hard to see how anyone could survive a fall like that. One very lucky man!!!
Wish I could be there to try out my new Warbonnet BB hammock but I have to work......dang.....
My My....your very tall and wide......
Does it work well? If you are getting rid of it then it must not be as good as your other setup.
I am waiting on number 9 to be delivered....lol
Ellicott rock is a nice walk with water and lots of good places to hang.
Now would be a good time to do Raven Cliff. The temps are perfect!!!!
I just ordered a new top and underquilt from Jacks R Better so I will be ready to go.
The madness will slowly seep into your bones. You will start watching the weather thinking "Boy I'd like to be hangin in that"
I agree. Also try to get the fatter aluminum rings. I think they work better and arn't as hard on your lines.
I deleted the connection and re added it to Tapatalk, It works after that
I have the Big lumbar pack they make with the shoulder straps and I love it.
Are you planning to hang in the flats right before the falls?
Has anyone tried to use a military poncho liner to replace the pad in a SS and did it work any better? Seems to me it would be kind of like a PLUQ but without having to modify the PL.
I am also in Lawrenceville off Old Peachtree near I85. There are a bunch of us on here...
I drove through there and saw the hammocks hanging... Looked like fun.
Looks like a good time has been had by all means,
Nothing...... Absolutely nothing
I just bought my Double nest this weekend and got some slap straps to go with it. While I don't like the slap strap stretch I do love the hammock. I think this is going to be a good one to take on...
Won't the slap straps stop stretching out at some point?
If my hammock fails in the woods can you hear my fat butt hit the ground?
Nothing really.
I think it helps if you use the fat rings when you go this way. They don't put the line in as much of a bind.
Some people would like to change the fins on a brand new Cadillac....
My modifications have been mostly just to make the darn hammock a little easier and quicker to setup.
You have to tie the half hitch or you will be waking up on the ground.
Not a happy experience.....
Welcome from Lawrenceville. I live off of Old Peachtree near I-85. It's a great place to be that is just far enough out of the city and not too far from the AT. Lots of chances to get out and hike.
I have a bamboo sax that is small enough to play in a hammock. I could play the piano in the hammock but will need some stronger material to get the piano in there.
Yo from Lawrenceville. We is just a bunch of hicks in the woods.....can you make noises like a farm animal?
Those are some great pics you got there....
I purchased the thicker rap rings which seem to be a little easier on the rope.
The a/c is going out at the house so I am hoping the warm weather is gone for the year. Maybe I can get it fixed when it is off season and maybe save some money.
Tapatalk is very smooth. Works very good with the forums.
That looks to be one happy hiking dog. Always in motion......
For you donation to the cause you receive the title of "FORUM GOD'. That make you one of the USA's newest super hero!!!!!!
If you strap on too much light weight gear you will float away from the surface of the earth and never be heard from again....Be Carefull
Well well well
This was not at all what I thought it was about when I read the lead in......
May you get "lucky" more often and add to your hammock cache......
I don't think weight is really an issue. My 2 biners and 4 D rings weigh almost nothing.
don't you just hate it when people say "Hot enough for ya?"
Or even worse...."It's not the heat....it's the humidity"
The good thing about useing a pad on a AT hike is it will serve you well if you have to go to ground like you would in the Smokies.
Has anyone ever tied 2 loops in their ridgeline so that they could tie some elastic tubing to the loops to keep the tarp tight
Omega Pacific are the ones that I used. They are thicker and not as harsh on the rope.
