Looks like a good idea to me as you could open it right out if you had to go to ground or if your feet were getting to hot.
That was my thinking as my baffles are horizontal
I don’t know but I would hope that your baffle system would separate the down enough to prevent moist down transferring the moisture

It's not that heavy it's the lightest goretex going snd due to the amount of rain we get its a bit of a godsend not having to mess around with under quilt protectors
My UQ has a goretex panel on the bottom and it seems to work great no condensation that I have found

The cheapest way to free it out would be to leave it in a tub of diesel it's will work the same as penetrating fluid at a fraction of the cost

Yes us uk lot are sneaky and disappear well both here and in the woods!
You can use the winter all year round just adjust the suspension to allow an air gap when it's warmer and in the summer you may be luckier than us in Scotland and not need an UQ!
