Mrcheviot I also don't see the poll in Tapatalk on iPhone. Web view is the only way to view it.
A 22-1 vote for is a pretty good ratio so far.

@ Trailslug It was Maztrain's great idea we all took turns digging and had a few pulks to haul the snow out. The fire slowly widened it as well.
@bgraybackpacker Tsunamihazardzone made those...
Hey that bridge looks great, I am thinking of eliminating my Dutchware spreader bars so I don't have to carry both spreader bars and hiking poles. I was wondering if you could post a closeup picture...
I sleep every night in my hammock, even threw my bed out once I made my bridge. I like to have a polyester blanket straight underneath me laying in my hammock, all four corners of the blanket are...
I love the colors, and the thread injecting looks great.
I only had problems with backstitching twice. I found the first time it was a simple matter of the tension settings on my machine. The second time the whole machine was out of timing.
You might...
I also have a tarp with that fishy smell. It's been over a month hanging up and it still stinks.
I like the track that your on I was thinking of this very idea the other night. There could also be a list of stickied techniques, like the recent rolled hem foot technique, a list of suggested...
Out in the wilderness hanging in a hammock I often feel like hangin dinner for a hiker hungry bear
Doctari I'm amazed you used a biolite under your tarp. I would be waaay to worried about burning my equipment. I've got a biolite as well and it kicks sparks up to kingdom come once that fan gets...
Oh now you've got me thinking about those small cedars sitting in the forest behind my house, to eliminate my bedroom hooks or not.
I use a silnylon sock that wraps my hammock top to bottom with a foot and head vent with an overhang on each edge, if I'm getting to much moisture build up I just open up my vents a bit. When the...
If any northbounders think they will make it to PCT DAYS in Cascade locks that's my end location and time for my Section hike. Give me a jingle this summer if anyone makes it there.
I think I have a system setup to keep my beer thawed (very important  ), and I'll be bringing a sled, ski's, and shovels. And don't mind being on bathroom excavation duty.
Unfortunately my...
I made an underquilt that exactly fit my bridges dimensions while I am laying in it.
So instead of suspension lines I just have 4 snaps on each side with two hooks and loops at the corners.
This...
Haha ugly stitches just lets people know you made it yourself. My sewing isn't the most beautiful but it has held my butt in the air for over a year and a half :)
Hey that looks great, my favorite color scheme as well.
Ok time for me to make one, luckily I have a bunch of scrap fabric laying about.
I DIY'ed my topquilt and underquilt out of apex and made a tarp with materials left over for about 120$. If you want to dive into DIY it will save you money versus buying from a vendor. It's just...
I have two pockets sewn into the side of my bridge right under my spreader bars, and then one large mesh bag that holds my boots/shoes in the top triangle. and to keep them dry.
I was woken up in the backwoods of eastern oregon one morning while I was tent camping, the ground was literally vibrating slightly from two fully grown angus bulls the size of my camry fighting over...
Good to know, I now modified it so the sock is actually taut on top now, and hugs everything a bit better..
I just need some snow and rain to test how waterproof it is.
I uploaded the images directly to hammock forums it should be working now.
It totally was to be honest, I was a little doubtful but once I hopped into my hammock I was amazed at how warmly I...
Thanks for the report Northfork, I will bring my camping shovels
Actually, transportation for myself is now an issue :scared: . I may just be getting dropped off and picked up.
Sorry Tsunami
I had the vent doors on either side open and there wasn't any condensation issues since my sock is higher on the head end everything just vents out.
Whoops I left out that there's 3.6oz...
Well I needed a good test for my gear that I've been working on, many thanks to all the knowledge on this forum and everyone's awesome DIY plans.
18F last night and I was toasty warm, and I'm sure...
Definitely cheating hah
I just tested my Winter setup last night as well. 18F and I was comfy warm. Definitely could go down another 10 degrees or so.
But no TV for me
That's literally the only foot I don't have for my singer, and I've got 10 other feet though. After seeing this and how much of a pain catenary cuts where to sew, I'm buying one
My friend owned a...
One other nice thing if you don't like alot of stretch in your hammock fabric, the 2.4 under my 150ib just doesn't stretch that I can notice, and shoulder squeeze is nonexistent.
Are those canvas tent poles setup as a stand?
If so... I'm liking it, and congrats on your first night hang.
For most outdoor fabrics I just use a walking foot, I haven't had any problems with fabric slipping or an uneven fabric feed.

I'm still wondering if the .68 spreader bar worked or snapped. When I had two people in my bridge with just .65 by 36" dutchware bars they started to flex and looked like they would break.
I went with 2.4oz hexon for my Grizz inspired DIY bridge hammock, I know the fabric is rated to 400Ib. I'm only 150 but I had two people in it at one point with a combined weight of 320ish, and it...
Just an FYI for everyone going expect night temps to be around 10F.
I may be able to give you a ride. I will let you know tomorrow evening.
I'm just doing the Oregon section NOBO
(Just my limited attempts at the same concept.
I did fiddle with my atlas straps and a combined ridgeline and got it to "kinda" work. I wrapped the middle of the straps around a tree then fed both...
I'm planning on hiking the Oregon section of the PCT - N this year. I'm loving these gear lists, they're making me think of ways I can lighten my base weight, while seeing what actually worked for...
I totally agree with you Jerry
I have a few dozen hammock friendly places that I want to camp at once the spring hits.
Honestly I'm not much of the organizer type but I wouldn't mind throwing...
I think I will just ski in.
well as long as at least two people are going I might as well tag along. Cya there even if it's a small group.
That's exactly what I use as well. I filed the bottom and tip in a sharp blade then I just preheat the thing for a second and cut my fabric with a metal sheet underneath.
Hello from Portland, Oregon fellow long distance hiker. I'm going to thru hike oregon on the pct this year. Then next year I will thru-hike, a hammock is a great way to experience the AT, welcome.
I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure the silicone coating makes gluing seams rather impossible.I have heard of people using it to make thread injecting a seam easier with slippery fabrics.
AWESOME
Great job man, I'm envious of where you spent your new years eve. I applaud your preparedness, judging by the gear you have I'm guessing you do a bit of rock climbing.
I've been...
I started hanging in a gathered end hammock and have tried a few different styles since then. To date my most comfortable hammock is my DIY Grizz Ariel inspired hammock made from 2.4oz hexon. It is a...
I have a gregory 75L stout, in the winter I can take my bulky quilts and put them under the brim of the bag in a compression sack and then just close the top over it and cinch it.
I actually sewed the climashield face up with my nylon shell against the feed dogs. Then took a really thin plastic ruler and hovered it in front o the climsehild while sewing. Then when I'm done...
Looks like the only paperwork is a snow pass for your car.
I am going to be there. My first group hammock forums hang.
BRING CHAINS!!!
I generally hang up in the canopy, my tallest hang yet was a little over 50feet up. When I first started canopy camping as I call it I had a regular rei hammock. There was a small spot in the bottom...
My bridge hammock is made from hexon 2.4oz. It's super strong, I've thrown my dog into it, he's about 40 pounds and his nails didn't even make a mark.
