I have used Mule's parachute system now on 3 trips and it takes the hassle out of fetching water. First it makes retrieving water easy from streams or lakes. Secondly I attach my Sawyer filter and...

What dates are you thinking about?
I made it a thru hike, the entire trail in 31/2 days. I wouldn't recommend that time line but we worked are arses off doing. This was before the tornado. It is a difficult trail. But worth while.
 Would love to join the fun. Hopefully the dates coincide with my calendar. Looking forward to hanging in the Hoosier

You made my day:). My what a BIG squirrel you have there.
Great job! Wish the folks who dumped the trash had to ride up the cliff in those barrels for throwing them down there. Great work.
Lazy River,
Thanks for a wonderful review. I can attest to both the cuben tarp and the Phoenix. Both have performed very well under some extreme weather conditions.
Great review

It didn't take me very long to realize, from some knowledgable folks here, that the stock HH suspension had to go. Been happily using Whoopie slings ever since. If you change over you need whoopies...

Great decision! I am grateful to have HF as social media as well as a source to learn more about hanging and hiking.
Hope to see you at the fall hang or perhaps we can meet up on the Knobstone...
How safe will that be with all the killings going on in Mexico with the Cartels???? Folks down there kidnap folks as a living . A " rich Cannadian" seems like a likely target. Any security planned?
I sewed some loops of elastic ribbon and attached them to the line locks from the D rings of my tarps. Used reflective line for my guy lines. I can tighten them, if need be, from under the tarp in...
Weight would be the biggest argument and Whoopies are pretty simple to operate and don't damage your line and once adjusted no knots to tie to prevent slippage. No one claims they are the perfect...
Tried all sorts of set ups with m Hennessy. Finally in frustration I listened to the folks on this forum and switched to Whoopie Slings and haven't had any issues or frustrations since.
Keep in...

Not sure how many miles I did hike but I am pretty familiar with ALL the trails in that part of the HNF. Bah humbug GPS units are for pansies :lol:
Brown Hollow????? You guys were at Brown Hollow Really? We're is Brown Hollow? LOL at myself. Well it was nice hang with a great turn out for the short time I spent with y'all.
I PM'd Mule on this and said water source would be available at the first camp site but not the second?????!

Congrats! You now have some experience to learn from and that experience will help you appreciate and understand why the good folks here count ounces/grams. It does make all the difference. Learning...
Hammock Gear rocks. My 20* Phoenix kept me toasty on my dog speeding trip on the Cannadian border. Down to -4* F on one of the nights. Enjoy!
I am using the HH Deep Jungle, which is double layer and comes with mats you mention. So far seems very comfortable and have not noted noise or sweating . I have had it down to 40's with just my...
I did a lot of research before my purchase. I wanted a camera for back packing videos. I chose the Lumix DMC-TS3 made by Panasonic. It is waterproof to 30', shockproof, HD video. Worked very well on...
Well there is a very good reason we threw the stiff upper lips out of here a while back,
Cannibal,
See that's what makes Yankee ingenuity and unstoppable force. Given a situation we always seem to find a solution. Well down sir!
Is it no brainer if you sleep full time in a hammock that you are one lonely dude? Just teasing don't take it seriously but the thought just had to be stated:lol:
Stormstaff,
I have DIY mesh snake skins and bundle it all together and carry it in an outside pocket for easy tarp set up in the rain if necessary and have the luxury of cover before I open my...
