I never compress my down quilt and UQ. They hang on the wall next to the rest of my gear. Then they go into a lightweight pack liner which gets rolled close at the top and then into the bottom of my...

I do basically the same thing but use one of the small Nite Ize instead of the prussic knot. Allows me to cinch the lines down tighter. They weigh next to nothing. Never had one slip on me.

PM on its way to you.
So who has experience using an inflatable pad in the slot of a double layer hammock like the Warbonnet BB? Seems like a layup to me although maybe a tad narrow in the shoulder area.
NIghtwalker...that is a superb idea. Should have thought of that myself before now!
Speaking of MacCat......anybody conversed with Brian lately?
2Questions......how did you tie off the ends of the flexible pole on the sides? From your pic it almost looks like there is a sleeve on each end.
A number of years ago I went on a horseback trip into the Wind River Range in Wyoming as a "thank you" from the Northern Arapahoe tribe for some financing assistance I provided to them. They gave me...
Miguel....where was this location if I may ask? Very nice looking bit of geography. Love that tree
Correct! Been thinking about adding some velcro to do that very thing.
Received my HH back today with the full size and half side mod. Fabulous workmanship without a doubt! Can't wait to get this out on a trip! Thanks for the tremendous work on this:) :)
Let me add another welcome home note and very much thank you for your service. Time now to enjoy the HH in a less stressful environment. Have fun!
Ditto the recommendation for the GG ccf pad.
I can see these as a possible option for tarp ridgeline tieouts but too big for side tieouts. Not to mention too pricey!
Apart from enjoying backpacking my other hobby is serious golf club construction and repair. This discussion sounds exactly like the one we frequently have about Golf Digest and Golf Magazine who...
I use the BA AirCore (non-insulated version) in my HH and it is very comfortable. I do not fully inflate it and it is much more comfortable that way. I also use a BA sleeping bag which is designed...
I'm not sure what the implications would be for use with a bridge hammock but I have a set of Black Diamond Trail poles which I have been quite happy with. They collapse down to maybe 20" or so and...
Not a direct answer to your top side question but I too use the BA Air Core pad partially deflated in my HH and have had good success with it. Below 40deg or so I have used a 1/4" ccf pad for extra...
The BA bag (30), BA pad (22) + Oware CCF pad (6) total 58 ozs. Not as light as I would like but it is a cool weather combination and allows me to use the HH. I have friends who are compelled to...
No argument with that. I have a MacCat Deluxe for use when I think conditions are going to be especially wet and/or windy.
Maybe it is just me but I keep reading the threads with complex ways to keep warm in a hammock which invariably end up being a bit weighty for meaningful long backpack trips and not to mention...
I really like the snakeskin idea for the tarp separately! I have no idea why that did not occur to me. I would imagine the Skins 1 would be plenty sufficient for the regular HH hex fly but would...
Thanks winger. Will be looking for more feedback from them when you get a chance.
I would like to try this out. I assume you are using the Mini. Are you using the standard HH rope?
This is indeed a concept growing out of the climbing group. I have a very good friend who has had a custom made bag like this for years which he uses when on climbs together with his insulated parka.
Perfect. I figured that was workable but nice to know for sure. Thanks!
Question for you guys who are using the MacCat tarp. Do you suspend over a line between two points (trees) using prusik knots to tension or do you guy out from ends of the tarp with no line along...
That is very cool! Great work. What is the fabric?
