Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
I think so Brain, but if Jimmy cracked corn, and no one cares, why does he keep doing it?
Yeah, it lashed on to the back of the pack very securely (I was a bit worried sliding under trees and whatnot, but never had any problems). I was getting kind of tired of it hanging on my belly and...
Welcome to the party!
Wait... motley crew? I resemble that remark! :D
About to load the pack into the truck, run a few errands, and then hit the road for the Gorge!
And my food weight will likely inch up a bit. I'll likely add a bar or two, and most likely some morning tea. I'll have to watch myself though. :D
Yep! I was reminded that I need to drink more water while on a little :D expedition at SEHHA with Running Feather, Hanging Burrito, and Acercanto. Unfortunately I'll have to head back out Saturday,...
5.58 lbs for more fuel than I really need, dinners for Thurs and Fri, breakfast for Sat, and 2 liters of water. After a quick $13 stop at REI tomorrow afternoon I should be 10 more ounces lighter....
Well, I am all packed up and ready to go! Now I just have to sit here and wait for tomorrow afternoon to roll around. :bored: I've managed to get my base pack weight down to 16.3 lbs and my total...
Congratulations to Mac and to Tree to Tree!
:)
So when they see your scrawl should they also look for an overturned chair too? :D
It looks like you can switch me from a "Maybe" to a "Yes!" I've been following this thread jealously, not sure if I would be able to make it or not. I'll be having to leave you guys early though and...
:lol::lol::lol:
I'm lazy and usually just go with the "Sahariane". My other favorite is the "Pirate", but it might take a couple of attempts (the crossed arms inversion thing takes some getting used to).
...
Was your gas mileage better on the drive home without all that wood weighing you down?
That fire was ridiculous!!! I was still at the main site when they got that bonfire going, and while I did enjoy the fruits of their labor I was very happy that my tarp didn't go up in flames with...
+1 on just crashing in the kilt.
That would be mine. I believe that was tarp set-up number two of four. :D
Gotta put credit where credit is due. That's Acercanto shimmying up the tree, he's mighty good at shimmying .
So many things that I am trying so desperately hard not to say!!!
Hey Hooch! I picked up that same kilt this past weekend in Hot Springs, I gotta say that I'm a big fan of the Elkommando too. Very comfortable. :D
 Getting excited!!!
Well scratch me from the list. :(
I tried to get my truck inspected and unfortunately it is going to require a little bit of work. I am still trying to make the SEHHA hang- so I will see anyone...
I had such a great time in the Gorge the last time I was there, put me down as a tentative YES! :D
That was pretty amazing that so many HF people just happened to be down near Conley Cove at the...
For some odd reason the mental picture of a Sherpa doing arm curls with a loaded pack comes to mind. Maybe I'm remembering some funny story I heard once?
I might be able to make it there on Thursday, I'll know for sure a bit closer to April.
I had such a great time with you all at the last one, I'm going to have to figure out a way to do the MAHHA and SEHHA back to back. Count me in!
The Iron Horse Station?
Thoroughly enjoyed the last one, count me in for this one! :D
Snowed in, cold, and probably loving every minute of it. :D
I'm so jealous.
I recently switched my stock ENO suspension over to Whoopie Slings (well, I had switched the hefty 'biners out awhile ago); I wasn't that negative about the Slap Straps, I knew that they weren't the...
What happened to the guy that could never be warm enough?
I had a great time this weekend with you all! I loved the hammock tour, Trugracie's menudo, Hogg Tyed's apple cobbler, and the worried scout leader. See everyone next time!
Man, the anticipation before each of these hangs just kills me! :D
All packed up and ready to go! Hitting the road from DC mid-morning, should arrive at Yates place around 4 pm. I'm thinking about...
I'll be driving back down from NoVa on Friday the 15th, so I won't likely get there until about 5 pm.
Is There a Santa Claus?
We take pleasure in answering at once and thus prominently the communication below, expressing at the same time our great gratification that its faithful author is numbered...
Yes, Virginia, there are Dutch Clips. They exist as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how...
I love my No-Sniveller, but I don't think you can go wrong with either. Being able to wear the NS to keep warm in camp is what swung my decision.
BTW: the No-Sniveller works great as an UQ too.

Oh, Jim Gaffigan is great! The Hot Pocket routine cracks me up, but I really lose it when he starts to riff on Lean Pockets: take out of box, place directly in toilet.
Hitting the road in about 30 minutes. Woo Hoo!!!
I'm coming from Shelby, so I'm guessing about 1.5 to 1.75 hours. Either way I should be arriving by noon. Parking on the East Side and coming down Spence, that looks like a nice hike. :D
Packing my gear right now! Heading out sometime in the morning, I still have to figure out how long the drive will take. Pretty much my only option is taking 18 North into Morganton then 181 North to...
Looks like we might be hiking down together, I'm guessing that I'll be arriving Tuesday around noon as well. I still have to read through the directions, where to park, and look at some maps- I like...
I've seen that some people are having some slippage issues, personally I've never had a problem. But I do make sure that the cinch straps are very tight, and I do think ahead while packing stuff...
Got room for one more? I'll be up in NoVa visiting family around the time of this hang and I'd love to meet and hang out with you all. Had great fun in Hot Springs, and I'd like to keep the good...
I'll be arriving Tuesday morning, might not be until 10 am or 11 am though. Staying till Thursday or possibly Friday.
Capitalbill on Tuesday morning, not sure the exact time... will leave Thursday sometime...
I'd be in for the Ghostbusters expedition, but I don't think I'm going to make it to Linville until Tuesday am. Sorry.
Ooh, day hike on Tuesday. I'll have to make sure to get there early then. MMP #3 will also be making the trip with me.
Got room for one more? I've been wanting to throw my name in ever since Hot Springs, but I was waiting to hear back from a buddy about the date of his wedding. He's getting hitched on October 31st...
