Ok, folks, looking for a place to hang my Warbonnet Friday and Saturday nights at the Fall Hang. Anyone have a site they'd like to share... just one little old lady
UPDATE: Sharing with TX...
So, checked the spreadsheet again, and I'm not "set" yet... several others, like myself, looking to share.... should I try to make a reservation in the other site? Or wait to see if Oldgringo can...
my friend, Kayak Karl, always the sensible one! If you start after April 15, you need less... but between March 1 and April 15, you can count on freezing
Welcome, Sugarland, I'm from Brenham... always great to see parents getting their kids out side and into camping
ok, I'll bite... email for paypal, please..
I have three: WBBB, ENO SN, ENO DN.... but I am looking for something lighter now for backpacking. My WBBB setup was great for my AT thru in 2010, but I'm older and need to lighted up... any...
maybe a dumb question, but how do I edit my For Sale to SOLD in the thread title?
Sold to Luke.. waiting on payment
Still have the MacCat Spinnul Spinnaker Standard Tarp available....
Great spinnaker tarp purchased in 2009 for AT thru. Used one week in 2010, before I switched to a Spear Winter Tarp. OES website no longer shows the spinnul, so I don't think it is available any...
Rainman, you are everywhere!
yep, that's what usually happens. It is darn cold out there in Jan and Feb. It's still cold out there in March and April... I did GA-ME in 2010, started March 13th. Had a few warm days in March...
congrats on your thru! I did GA-ME in 2010 with my Warbonnet Blackbird. Hope to see you at some hiker gatherings... SoRuck in Jan?
Wow, sure is a bunch of folks! My church takes priority though, so I'll be at the ladies retreat. You guys have fun!
Uncle Mike, just realized that this is the same weekend as our ladies' retreat at church. Looks like I'll miss another hang.
Eight pages and all I know is that it is somewhere near Ocala in January... details please for those of us thinking about coming! If you can edit your first post it helps so we don't have to read a...
I started my thru with a MacCat standard and it was fine until the heavy snow and rain came. A friend gave me a Speer Winter Tarp and it was wonderful! Sort of the same idea as the Supershelter, as...
Counselor, maybe you could bring a prototype to the Texas Hang so we can see what you are working on (not the baby). Can't believe I missed this whole discussion while I was out hiking the AT....
I just finished 2089 miles on the Appalachian Trail and slept most every night in my Blackbird. If I wasn't in a bed at a hostel or motel, I was in the hammock. It was awesome!!! Lots of folks were...
Wow, I just finished hiking the AT this year and I found this thread. Glad you guys are keeping things going! My Blackbird was my home this year, and I'm looking forward to this hang. 90% sure I'll...
Found ATtroll's video and boy do I feel dumb. So easy! I was trying to hook it every which a way and it simply slides over the bump end... duh... Still not sure what the snaps are for though...
I figured out hanging last year on my hike. But I just used my WBBB and a pad with my sleeping bag. Now I'm getting ready to go out in the cold, so I have a Yeti and a JRBweathershield. I can't...
Hey Shug (or anyone else)! I figured out hanging last year on my hike. But I just used my WBBB and a pad with my sleeping bag. Now I'm getting ready to go out in the cold, so I have a Yeti and a...
maybe.... heading to NJ for another memorial service on the 7th, might be able to do this and see some friends....
As much as it rains down here, you should order an OES MacCat. I have the Standard, but use it on the AT. For Texas rains, get the Deluxe....
Mainly, they don't have bottom entry... The second layer is the same as the first layer. You could do this easily when you do the zipper front, but I don't see it working with the bottom entry.
wish I were there... Hope everyone has a great time!
Laughing.... this could go on all day with hundreds of dibs.... Warbonnet BB... who would sell one?
okay, I can't find the info, what happened to Stubblefield? Too much rain?
What if it ends in a tie? It's 15 to 15 now....
Peanutdude, check out the HH odds and ends thread soon! Good buys there for a starter. Of course, you'll probably end up upgrading like the rest of us. But you can't have too many hammocks.
So did you have two? I missed the first, then saw you put this one on and Cannibal snatched it up... is it the same one? If it falls through, or if you have another, I'll take it!
only problem I see is the 2 car limit per campsite....
Don't convert.... leave the trees for us... A hiking buddy this year said that I told ghost stories around a certain shelter area in VA (known for two murders), then crawled into a "scary bag"...
Don't you only need about 30 feet for two whoopie slings (one for each end)? Or am I confused....
Where can one purchase whoopie slings premade?
Note to self: check the links.... duh Arrowhead Equipment $12.75 each
What a great big brother you are!
I think I sent you here from WB, congrats on the hammock!
Last spring I used a 20 degree bag with a landau pad down into the 20s with no problems. This summer I bought a Yeti UQ, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
If I get to come, I have a new yeti to try out. But still don't know how my husband is doing...
I haven't laid in mine since 4th of July weekend over in the State Park. All my gear was sitting in our spare bedroom waiting for a fall hike. I finally put it away when my hopes for a fall hike...
Sounds like so much fun! Last time I was in that area, I did Bears Den to Harpers Ferry... shoulda stopped at the Blackburn. Wish I could get out, but gotta play nurse for my hubby till the doctor...
I don't think that any of the complete systems mentioned make it at under 3 lbs, as per his original request. Of course a tent, bag, and pad would normally weigh in at around 5-6 lbs at least. So...
Probably not, that's mostly for hiking or Red Hat Society fun. If I can it will be some day next week and I'll post or message you beforehand.
Don't take good gear because it'll wear out??? That is just plain stupid! No Western Mountaineering Bag? No Montbell Jacket? No Blackbird? No Way!!! I used my stuff for several hundred miles...
From now till Oct 3rd according to the schedule. Today is free for senior citizens, but I don't know if I can get there today.... I sure would like to get up there if I could.... maybe one day...
I, too, grew up camping. On my first backpacking trip I carried over 40 lbs (and I was barely 100 lbs myself). Now I try to stay around 25lbs. That is enough to allow a few extras, but not so...
You really don't need one there, since Hiawassee has good resupply.
The only reason for mail drops for me is to get new maps as I move on and to send warm/cold weather gear. Food is pretty easy to resupply. If you are not using maps, and if you don't need to change...
If you wanna drive all the way down, you'll be very welcome, I'm sure. My Daddy is a genuine Okie from Muscogee, but he's lived in Texas since WWII.
Thanks Uncle Mike for thinking of me. We...
