Well Brandon....
You got me again ;-)
I went ahead and got the ridgerunner and lynx.
So with my BB and yeti, my son and I have two NICE setups to hit the trail with.
Looking forward to the bridge...
Yea I don't mind the mosquitoes poking around on my hammock but I don't want the ants to make me fall through ;-)
The burn tests can be quite maddening when you do them. It's hard to determine the color and smell sometimes.
The best for determining if its nylon or polyester is with formic acid. If you can get...
Hey Brandon it's all good. You'll get it out there when you get it out there so no worries.
I'm just curious what inventive idea you settled on.
For those that weren't around, the early days of...
yoo hoo Brandon...I don't check in much any more but this is something I'm probably gonna want to add to my hammock arsenal. I'd give my son my BB and I'd take the bridge :)
It hasn't been that long...
I came looking for this very reason...
I decided to check on the status because I know Brandon mentioned this one.
I'd like to get one and probably give the WBB to my son.
We will see though....
If the flap adjustment could be made easily from inside you could lower it a bit if it gets too warm. It is kind of like the Clark pockets. Its actually a melting pot of a lot of underquilt ideas. I...
It could actually be very light. Use some 1.1.
Is 0.9 still around?
Anyway, this is just a skin so it's light. But sometimes versatility beats out weight :D
Well let's see here....
I've had an idea fumbling around in my head for years. I had posted it on the hammock camping yahoo group. I looked it up and it was 2005..yikes how time flies. I wanted a...
Unfortunately, I wasn't clear.....pretty muddy I guess :)
I was talking about the entire suspension from tree to tree.
Ok....so I've been gone from the forums for awhile....
Actually I do pop in but the shear volume of posts these days is amazing.
I knew about whoopies :)
But the single line tarp ridge line is...
I'm sure someone has done this before.....
If you are one that is concerned about the angle of your suspension, etc. you can just use your hand to get an estimation. I used photoshop but a...
now this is pretty
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showpost.php?p=28343&postcount=304
you'll find this has little to do with a figure 9 after the first few pages.
I've been out of the hammock loop for awhile but I see single line tarp ridge lines are in nowadays.
We had some...
Anyone around this place have any ideas on how to hang a hammock up?
;)
I see there are lots of new ways!
I'm gonna go back through this thread and see if we missed anything.
As long as you can flip the bed against the wall, have 10' diameter, and 8' clearance, just carry a medium universal space frame with ya and you are good to go.
:)
This reminds me of the universal space frames.
or geodesic domes.
My son sleeps in a jungle hammock as his bed.
Unfortunately, him and his friends get a bit rowdy at times.
The hammock has suffered a nice tear in the netting.
A large "L" about 1' X 1'
Well this...
Nice to see some old ideas come to fruition.
I'll have to get some when they go into production.
Sounds 'cool' ;)
However, I'd see the need for permithrin on the hammock. That open weave is just yummy for those mosquitos. Or one of those OFF clip ons.
Personally I think a breeze is nice for...
I wish I could, but as I said earlier in the thread I'm heading out there for my son's spring break a couple of weeks after y'all.
I just reserved the campsites a couple of days ago. I was surprised...
Oh yea, shade can be nice. I used my mad sewing skills to make a lounging area off the back of my truck. Even in March the sun can get hot out there.......
If you think you might get sprinkled on you just use the tarp for cover.

No worries on the critters.....My son and i just put a groundcloth down and sleep on top of it. We TRY to find snakes and scorpions and have very little luck.
...
Dennis, I think I've seen that rock tower....
Is it out there behind terlingua, north of the solitario?
Also, I never made it to the end of closed canyon. Each time I've done it, I'd get to a...
ok take your mind out of the gutter :)
Sorry I haven't been around much.
I do sleep in a hammock whenever I'm home. I haven't had a bed in my room for over a year now......
I've always like the...
yep, and if you look at the fourth page you'll have an idea of why they call it boot canyon...:shades:
Trails illustrated has one.
They sell that at the store in the park.
I reallly like laurence parent's hiking book as well.
Looks like he has a second edition out now....I'll have to get one.
The...
IIRC that was a boy scout retreat in that picture.
Chago, nice report. I see you found cattail falls. you must of had some good intel for that one.
It's great to see some of y'all lengthening your stay. Chago's last line pretty much sums it up for...
Well y'all aren't gonna see much of it.....
I don't know how many days I've spent out there and there is still tons to see.
If you are gonna backpack, I'd do an overnight to the south rim.
Then...
There is more room to spread out at cottonwood and RGV.
They are little more crammed in the chisos.
Hammock camping out there with several people is going to require stands. If you look at the pics on the bbnp website, you'll see that there are trees (cotonwoods) but they are pretty spread out....
It's gonna be hard to hang at any of the campsites....
If you do a base camp and you want to do mostly chisos, then reserve some of the car camping sites up in the chisos....
If y'all do the south rim, have a looksee at the elevation gain....
Also, you'll have to carry your water....major pain but I wouldn't count on finding any up there.
Up in the chisos, the lost mine...
Sorry I'm late to this......
I go out to big bend 2-3 times per year. I was just there in October.
It's one of my favorite places to go...
Last new year's eve I was there, but this year I'm moving...
Snoring is much more likely to happen when you are on your back.
It also increases if you've been drinking alcohol....
If someone hears you stop breathing and then start up again it might be sleep...
I love it when the fog rolls in!
Here is a photo I took several years ago near my favorite site out there near mile 8.
http://www.schroederworks.com/gallery/Fgallery2-8.jpg
The lake was high wasn't it. I was out there two weeks ago showing someone crocket. We ended up doing four miles out and back from cedar breaks.
I wanted to get out there around where the river...
My son (8) has been sleeping in one for about a year now. He's got one here at my place (claytor expedition) and one at his mom's (my old hennessy ulb). I sleep in a bridge or my warbonnet (I...
I just checked out the whoopie sling....I know late to that one...
Do y'all just attach the sling to the hammock and the on the other end to the hugger?
Then just use the clip to attach to tree,...
okay i'm in for 4.
I'll send the info after lunch.
now that there is just downright pretty.
I went back to the other thread and dug up one of mine.
sheesh.....mine looks terrible in comparison lol!
On this post you can see another variation that...
Something I've wanted to do for years was to make a proper indoor stand.
This would make it actually look like a bed frame.
It would be ideal for a bridge type hammock.
Specifically it would be...
Jeff, I couldn't help but compile some of the words you wrote....
my brain broke it down to trimming the edges with fuzzy stuff.
'pimp my ride' came to mind......lol!
Not much different really. Just choose what style hammock you like and make it comfy.....
I sleep in my double layer 1.7 blackbird or my homemade bridge. For the bridge I used two layers as well....
cool.
just had a thought.
any benefit to having a floor on that thing?
Then you would completely enclosed, like a single walled tent.
removable, and made out of tougher material.
like a sock but...
Thanks for taking the time sparrow. I like the latest rendition with the parentheses and the lighter color. That makes it a good balance I think and not as noticeable. Hopefully, it will stay. Thanks...
The way I've seen it on other forums is just the date (not the time) and it next to the user. That way it's not another line and just the date, both cut down on clutter. But hey no big deal. Just...
