Skip down for that. I made a wide/long with climasheild 2.5 and membrane 10 that's 10 oz. It's an easy project for diy, or simple enough to have custom made.
No elastic, no zippers, sewn footbox.

Same boat, loved the 1.9, but cannot find. Ended up with these.

2.4g/foot but have many of the same properties of the kevlar I liked. Holds knots,...
Amsteel gets softer with use generally, even at the apex where it repeatedly sits on a biner or loop.
But I have seen substantial hardening in one particular case. Was a new loop that I was testing...
Does SHE want to die in a hammock? Sounds like she haven't been in one before.
Getting in and out of one is difficult. Changing bed pads or using the toilet/bed pan would be a huge ordeal. Moving...
Anything thats no stretch works. Stay away from paracord.
Lash-it or zing-it in 1.75 is my normal go to.
The few things from outdoor vitals I own have been acceptable, but I got what what I paid for. Decent stuff overall when talking mass market appeal.
Now take a look at their new tq. 0.7 oz fabric,...
There is a feeling of loft difference in my experiance. Lower fp feels much stiffer (for lack of a better term) compared to 900+. Higher fp sometimes feels like there's nothing in there, esp in...
It's stretchy, esp for its weight. Perhaps old skool at this point, they are still my favorite lounging hammocks.
It CAN help. Iv tried well over 30 variants in multiple fabrics with some sort of cat cut end. None of the regular type fabrics saw any large benefit, but one in particular saw an increase in...
I'm 175, about 8 nights in it so far. No issues.
With something this delicate, I don't think it's the weight so much as punctures/small rips.
I'm very careful about debris, sharp objects or even...
Cloud or 1.2xl. They are my go to hammocks for hikes. Cloud for when I put on the miles, 1.2 for easier days. I do baby the Cloud, and sleep better in the wides.
My diy draped bug net in ns50 is 3...
Yes, but I blame the construction rather then the hammock. Was a kylmit inertia pad, not longer made. The type that had holes cut out for the ultralight crowd. Used in my case to add some cushion,...
The knot is better then any drip line you can use
My go to is a 35, but often find myself taking my 60 on longer trips or winter camps.
In reality, most people should be closer to 55-60 till you figure out your pack more. This size is useful for...
6'3 for reference. Wider is always better, but you get diminishing returns over 60". Same with length, longer is better. But with longer comes a longer tarp, fewer hang sites and more sag. That means...
Not a problem at all
While the simple answer is to bring a dyneema tarp as it's lighter and provides coverage vs a sock.
However it's not practical for most. A small asym tarp is. Similar weight and pack size to a sock...
Integrated sure is sleek, and I see the appeal. But I dislike zippers. Heavy, bulky, uncomfortable and always seem to be harder to use when I need to get out quick.
2 separate items will likely be...

This style was more commong a fear years ago. It offers full protection with less material, and simpler to make vs others. They use weight (rocks or...
Camo is better, but not great. I wake with the very first light, camping or at home. So having a dark, enclosed tarp makes my alarm clock go off a few min later.
On super bright nights, it can make...
If your interested in a ns50, and can sew, look at the draped bugnet. Been using a 0.9 for years and love it. I just made a version in ns50. Weight 3.1oz, hard to beat for a full net.
Beware ns50...
Don't.
Camp in your backyard if you need to get out. If you need to camp in the mountains, make sure your car is close. Or go ground. You can make that gear work in a tent, not a hammock with thoes...
It's been a year or so since iv hung in my 1.0 so grain of salt of salt for memory. At the time, it was my preferred hang for hiking, but after a few small holes, I had concerns about durability on...
The color might be very influenced by light. Looking thu yours, you see abundant sunlight. And it does look very orange. Where mine is hung in a relitivly dim basment with almost no sun, certinally...
To clarify, it's not replacing my others because its more comfortable. Although I do like a stretchy hammock. It's replacing because of the weight and bulk savings. My summer pack is smaller then I'd...
Just got a simple netless from dutch in this new fancy fabric. Have it hung, here's a few initial impressions.
It's stretcher then mtn 1.3, closer to hexon 1.0 if memory serves me. Considering it's...
Lowest iv taken mine was 20 degrees and semi windy. It certinally made it more comfortable to have an arm or so out of the quilt. And made changing much easier from a cold standpoint. Perhaps it made...
Before you knot it, wrap a carabiner around it. Knots like that are likely life-long.
Can get UP from Dutch, cedar creek, and loco libre. Apologies for whomever I am missing.
I would trust simply light designs to make a quality climasheild uq as the rest of his stuff is top notch.
A...
The double wrap beckett should not slip. It can be a pain to release. Having a way to pull the continuous loop towards the tree and out of the knot helps. Can get fany loops like the evo or modified...
J bend, x bend, double beckett, there's plenty of other knots you can use that hold better, but all have drawbacks. Either harder to tie or harder to release.
I'd suggest trying a beckett with a...
That's what I have now. It's no longer offered tho. I bought some 2.x something uhmwpe that I'll be trying in a week or so.

These, from any vendor. They are all the same give or take
Larks to one side, mini biner or soft shackle to the other side side for easy removal.
Word of caution, hanging your hammock very flat, like 15 degrees, will cause the mini biners to fail in...
Soft shackles with a bury are more secure while under zero tension. But are a fight to get out sometimes... Looking at that shackle or an evo loop, it looks like it would fall out or not hold the...
I like ll3 on my ridge. There is nothing easier to adjust, esp under tension.
They will eventually fail, quicker so in super cold weather. For this reason, make sure you know how to hang your tarp...
You'll get multiple answers on both sides of this question. There are very few examples of a pole actually causing enough abrasion to make a problem and plenty of anecdotal evident thats its fine.

There was a post awhile back about adding vertical sides to a tarp for wind blocking. Dont think it ever got made, but the gist was to have removable material kam snapped or omni taped on.
If it...
They work amazing. Iv started using them in zing it for my tarp ridgline as well. Thanks to autumnultralight.com for that idea!
No hardware, no sharp edges, just as easy as biners, amazing idea.

Space is a concern. I like my 35l for 3 season. Weight is a secondary concern, but I still rather not add an ounce or 2 if i can avoid it. I think I'll probably try the 2.5 dyneema for this spring....
Its a gap. Likely small. Might be along the sides or the ends. You can get a gap at the ends from the end shock cord being either too tight or too loose.
If its sealed all the way around, its not...
O, yea missed its for a bridge. As mentioned, do so carefully. A small change in the bones increases compression on the bar non-linearly.
Can double over your bones to half the length in a pinch

This might be my issue. The few iv tried are all lighter variants.
My old kevlar 1.9 straps are due to be retired. Iv loved the kevlar because they are low weight, no stretch and hold a beckett securely without an extra stopper or wrap. Not to mention are light.

If park camping I bring 3" wide straps for this reason. Often the tensa too, but tree hanging is nicer. Even 1" if used repeatedly in a park setting will eventually damage the tree.
Most hammocks iv built are larks head. 2 very important reasons
1. Its infinity adjustable. I like experimenting and my preferred whip isn't straight across like a sewn in would be.
2. This one is...
Driz loop turner is my primary tool for amsteel. The kit that dutch sells i use for smaller stuff.
For long buries, >12" i use thin gauge wire.
