If i remember right, when i used to cave in Tennessee, the temps in the caves were usually around 58 degrees year round. Sounds warm in winter but if you arent moving seems pretty cold. We used to...
Fancy Ramen, would the 2 mil tear or stretch easier in a heavy downpour?
Are you using a ridgeline under the tarp? Or are you tying directly to the trees from the ends? I thought i saw a ridgeline and was wondering if it looked like it had rubbed it much being out that...
I used to hike all over Scott's Gulf when i was a kid. I love that area.
I am in. :)
Arrowhead Equipment is having an Anniversary sale, the JarBridge is $75
http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/store/c15/Anniversary_Sale.html
how about a long blown up baloon, like the clowns make animals from?
I recently got a pair of these and really like how light they are. I have used them several times and hope to get more soon.
:)
Between midnight and 3am i saw 7 meteors in SC from a hammock on a stand. had some clouds so may have missed some.
Sounds like you are going to have a good time. Do you have enough cocoa? :) Don't you need Desert Camo for that area? Is that a NEW hammock you are using now? I thought you had the regular...
How about a small cargo net under the quilt and adjust the tension to make it barely touch the hammock when you are in it?

I just saw 2 at 2 different WalMarts in Columbia SC yesterday. That was 2 at each store. They must have just gotten them in since i did not see them last Friday.
Glad to see you just relaxing, now all you have to do is work on bushcraft stuff :D
Glad to see you back doing what you love to do, hiking and hammocking. Cool about the snow on the mountains in Arizona. :D
Oh, and here is one of some of the hammocks.
I had fun and glad to put faces with names :D
here are a couple pics i took, one group around the fire ring and one of the raffle.
Could you do the venting thru the top kind of like a TED bugnet design or like roofs on houses now days where it has an overhang at the very top to vent the attic? Here is a link to the TED design...
Do you guys mind if a couple people come out Saturday for a couple of hours to look at different setups and meet people? :D
I am in, but i do not do Facebook.
You did't even mention Congaree  :D
Can you post it here also? Or a link to it? :)
I almost forgot about Ellicott's Wilderness SC.
I really want to take my grand kids there. I looked in the trip reports area and found a couple reports there about the area:...
And there is the Palmetto Trail:

I have used prussics before but always a loop prussic. How do you make a prussic on the end of a UCR?
Are you using the head end bag as a pillow? :D
Cool idea, I take a hammock on every hike I take even if it is a short one :D
Since the hammock slides thru the backpack, can you change out hammocks and put your own DIY hammock or commercial...
HH Asym Tarp. I'll Take it if the PM i sent you comes back favorably :D
What are the measurements on the HH Asym Tarp? :) Would you take any less if you don't have to ship?
Looks interesting. :) Can you go into more detail about how you vent it? Maybe some pictures :D
how about sew the ends of a thin piece of string to and use the string as a button hole?
I got one like that from Harbor Freight a couple years ago. NOT comfortable at all and i am only 5'8". My grandsone loved it tho :D
Also it is too short to put any of my other hammocks on. :(
...
I saw a video by Dave Canterbury a while back that looked kinda cool. It was kinda like a hammock cot typ[e thing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76_FuL6t6s0
Looks really good. Does it open up your view more? Did you have to reinforce the whole edge (webbing) or just sew on the loops the pole goes thru?
Wandering Tramp i am interested :D Do you know about what the low temps got down to?
I saw a cloth Travel Hammock at Walmart for $15 on sale the other day. Here is the link of the one i saw:

:D
I saw some Travel Hammocks at Wal-Mart for $19 today. Check in the sporting goods section.
Are you thinking of something like this:

Have you thought about drilling a small hole in the end of both to attach a small string or bungee to keep the parts together when not in use or in the backpack? :)
The upper parts are pretty close to Greenville, SC. Oconee, Jocasee Gorge, Saluda Mountains, Poinsette resevoir and Blue Wall are pretty close and very "Mountainy" :D
Here is the link for the Palmetto Trail:

They have some free campsites on some of the trails, others you have to pay for.
Terry
Got my stakes today. Man these things are super light weight :D
I would like to be in also.
Thanks
:D
I just ordered some also :D
I have camped there a couple times. It is FREE to camp, you just have to go to the office and get the campsite tag. You can camp ANYWHERE in the park, but if you want a campfire i think you will...
Well mine was not "WaterProof". I made a cup in some of it and put water in it, it held it til i squeezed it then it poured out of it. It may repel water but i don't know how long.
The Walmart on Harbison Blvd in Columbia, SC had 3 bolts for $1.97 a yard also. I got 10 feet of it :D
How about just tie a toggle into your line at the tree hugger on each side. or a prussic knotted toggle?
I watched til about 3:30am Sunday morning with my husky. Sky would get clear then cloud over and clear again. I saw about 6 of them. One just luked like a bunfh of flames going thru the sky, not...
