This may be an old idea - or it could be a really cool new idea!
I kept looking at my tech line & amsteel tarp lines that had a loop on one end with a nacrabiner to connect around the tree.
I...
I am using this design with a double-layer of 1.1 ripstop...this allows use of pads between the layers and also keeps skeeters from getting to you from below!
Great thread and lots of great ideas...
Need a quick description of how it is made. Like the compression system but can't see from video exactly how it is set up.
Thanks, FH
I really cheaped out...bought #2 Pine studs for $2.63 each then ripped them in half with table saw. $1.31 each! Got hinges at Harbor Freight for $2.87 each. $13 total for two poles and end caps. ...
If you could do some drawings and angles for the top pieces I would appreciate it - that is where I messed my first one up and now have to take it apart and re-cut.
Thx, FH
Thanks for the info! Great project and we are just getting High Adventure Crew 85 started up in Tupelo, MS. Several guys are already hangers and we are converting several each trip.
The Dome may...
Did you have to shorten any other poles to make up for the longer length in these two?
Also - What material did you use for the clear/white sections?
Thanks, FH
This is why my pole is 13' long - tarp goes completely on it and I tie to the end caps of the pole so it does not pull on the tripods at all. Leaves me about 6" on either end for my prussic slides...
Thanks for the help on the pics!
Since this is not a weight-conscious stand I thought of those screw-in dog-chain anchors with one directly under each tripod and use a figure 9 to crank...
Finished stand and it works great with WBBB clone & Winter Dream Clone tarp. The extra length is just perfect for the WD tarp!
Cut my wood wrong at top so they do not join together correctly -...
Will do! Two tripods lashed and the top rail will be two pieces shear-lashed together! We'll see how it hangs & I'll get some pics too.
Thanks on the Lowes idea - got two slightly dinged rails...
This is what I am going to try & do. Also using an above idea I am going to cut my poles at 6'6" each then cut the two sections of pipe at 6'6" also.
Make everything nest together then build a...
Thanks Turtlelady!
Do you have a picture of this system? I am trying to design the hinged system but wanted a little more distance between the stands.
One quick question: Has anyone tried to make a ridge pole with three sections? Using the chain-link fence poles only give you 10' if I remember correctly and I would like to set the tripods 12'...
Oh Sheet...that made my head hurt!
Cut 3' off the end and re-seam both pieces.
Make a gear hammock out of small piece!
What is the weight of all the poles and do you have a carry bag to hold all of it?
How long does it take to set up?
Awesome project! Got a Venture Crew in the making and this will be a fun...
Can you post some pics - want to make sure what I am visualizing is what you are saying.
Thx, FH
Want to add full length zippered bugnet to Knotty's stretchy-side mod.
Not sure how to put zipper on since the side will pucker when pulled tight.
If anyone has done this advice & pics would...
ASM at Troop 85, Yocona Area Council, Tupelo, Mississippi.
Got the bug at the Boy Scout National Jamboree in 2010 when I looked at the camping Meritbadge display and it had a WBBB set up.

LOL - same thing I was thinking!
Any advice on sewing the curve??? Just tried this and that was the hardest sewing I have ever done! Even with pinning it wanted to fold over on itself so you could not pull the cord thru.
Thanks...
I'm in as well - if I qualify as a noob!
Just want to brag on Kris!
He is the most upfront person & company that I have ever dealt with thru any intenet forum!!!
Kudos to him and Thank You from the bottom of my heart for the great help...
If we have a donation when do you need to confirm information?
Thanks, FH
Just got back from our Spring Camporee.
Friday Night calm 42 degrees
Sat night 10 mph wind and 46 degrees

Could you decide to make the depth lower? Say 28" instead of 34"???
What would that do?
The lightbulb goes off!!!
I have been beating my head against the wall on this one trying to figure it out and now it makes sense.
Has anyone sewn the edges of the first 12" of the...
OK - Maybe I'm just Dense....
Hammock Length (from gathered knot to gathered knot) 133"
Ridgeline (adjustable but set here) 106"
I hung a string of amsteel at 106" end-to-end then traced the...
I use them on gathered-end hammocks and they are too tight on the knot. They can work but you have to work them over the knot and that is a pain.
I broke down and sewed larger ones for the...
Just finished a Winter Dream clone in BWDD Digicam 1.6oz coated nylon.
I know - pics or it didn't happen - will post them after I get everything set up.
20 hours! You did better than me -...
I like the edging w/GG idea - that would be the easiest, especially on the back!
On #2 - are you roll hemming the bug net by wrapping it around the (already) roll-hemmed edge of the hammock...
I have made several Standard Gathered-end hammocks and my son has an Eno Double-Nest.
I would like to mod them to add no-see-um bug netting (got from BWDD!!!).
I have looked at several of the...
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the ideas! Top tension set on 9 with the Tera 40 stopped all of the problems!
Made the top ridgeline tie-outs with the heavier GG I had then decided to do all the lower...
Thanks - didn't think of that on the top tension.
I have used the Gutterman Mara 70 so far.
For these tie-outs should I switch to the Tera 40 for this harder material?
It may be nylon on...
Help!!!
Am finishing a DigiCam Winter Dream clone and am at the stage of adding tie-outs but I keep breaking needles on the GG webbing I am using!
As far as I can tell it is standard GG (may be...
How much did you get for her???
Do you use it inside the layers of a double hammock then the underquilt below?
Or do you hand the underquilt and make a holder for the reflectex to nest outside that?
I'm confused...not the...
Too True! My ridgeline looks like a drunken sailer walked down a Boulevard!
But by Gosh with two extra lines of stitching and 1" wide it will hold!
I found the Black Cat Tutorial (I can search...
rj,
Thakns for the pics!
That helps with a couple of questions I had.
Probably how I will do it on mine but I will remember (hopefully) to put the reinforcement down befor GG....hopefully! ...
After thinking about it and looking at the Binding attachment on the TI there is not an easy way to do this.
I like the "cut a slit in the GG & singe it then pull the GG thru itself" method, but...
Yeah - I know this all too well....
Great idea on the dogtag chain.
Yall have taken all the fun out of my graph paper model.
I have changed the Cat Cut Excel spreadsheet to tell me exactly...
OK - I took the spreadsheet and ran it out for every 1% instead of 5% to see where the more even measurements would be to help plot them on some larger graph paper.
Basically - I can do a 1/2 cat...
Thanks for the quick response!
Now - how do you transfer that to a pattern!
The clock is ticking...Go!
OK - in the middle of a tarp fiasco (remind me to bind up all the excess material before I sew a side to the ridgeline again!).
What are the general rules of thumb for depth of cat cut and also...
Can you add tie-out loops using the grosgrain edging and just make a loop at each of your corners then stitch it to your reinforcement? The Grosgrain is one continuous piece that you just loop at the...
Has anyone modded their DN for side tie-outs?
If so how did you do it? Put them at the top of the side or down the side a little? Offset for diagonal sleep position?
Thanks, FH
What is the best dilution and do you soak the hammock or spray it on?
Mine is a double layer, gathered end hammock.
Thanks, FH
Second this.
Only issue is nacrabiners can be a pain when your hands are cold or in gloves.
