Why are you trying to go lighter? Good way is to shorten the ridge pole for a smaller hammock.
With the ridge pole on top instead of hanging under works if your using 3'' fence post. If your using top rail it doesn't. Or does but not for long. The force caused mine to twist and ended up...
My current ridge pole sections are 5' and 6'. In an 11' room I turn going corner to corner and this worked great even though the room was full of junk. I just hung over it all.
For $80 you can get a welder to make one out of steel
This is correct and not at the same time. You can remove the 3rd leg as in gringo's stand but it is replaced with welds. The third leg gives support to a stand when cord lashing is used. If you only...
That 3rd leg really gives this stand the stability it needs. That being said I have hung from a monopod (if there is such a word) Got the idea from Risk. One solid anchor point like a tree and the...
You are absolutely correct. ID wall thickness is what makes it usable. Sch 40 is too light to be hanging from and can easily be bent.
How is this pvc version holding up? Any bowing of the pvc?
With the chain link hooked to the eye bolt it will do the same. The force pulling on the tripod legs will pull until it tightens on the chain link and putting all the pulling force on the ridge pole.
Oh no he was inside acting like a pirate and watching TV with his mom. I was testing to see if it could be done and my answer was a big negative.
I could have done it if my tripod poles where...
Well apparently if put too much tension on the ridge pole it puts you on your butt.
I changed to 3 sections of fence top rail to get more distance with my bridge. Now because my tripod poles are...
Kreecher, I had to set my tripod poles as close to the ends of my ridge pole as I could. This stopped my suspension triangle from touching the tripod. Also with a bridge you need more room. The...
3/4 EMT would probably work also, but the stuff is slippery. Couple wraps of tape would help that. Something could be made to insert to use as a foot inside the house.
Kreecher, the height isn't bad but how strong is the adjustable legs. If the legs aren't fixed then you have a potential weak point. Which would suck at say 2 in the am when your sound asleep and the...
I have tested it with a Bridge Hammock. Mine is just long enough for it to work. I have to set the uprights all the way toward the end of the ridge bar but it works. Ridge bar has to be a bit longer...
I was thinking about what Turtlelady said about set up. I have the same problem, tripods want to fall or move around. What if the cord on the lower part of the uprights where changed to a wood cross...
I use two poles equaling a little over 12'. I don't hang my hammock close to my tripods. Which I think may have been the factor for me landing on my rear last week. I need a stronger splice piece.
A longer ridge pole would solve the chaffing of the tarp from the tripod poles problem
The fence rail I have doesn't taper on the ends. Its 1 1/2 fence rail. I had siliconed the connecting piece inside of one of my pipes. If you look at the connector there is a grove in the center. It...
I made a TL Tri stand two night ago. I made the center peice from a chain link fence top rail I had from a previous hammock stand. While laying in it last night the the center connector split and my...
You will find bamboo much stiffer once its cured.
I love this stand. Its simple, easy, portable and best of all virtually free.
Step 1 - cut down bamboo poles
Step 2 - tape ends to help stop splitting
Step 3 - get busy doing something else for 3 - 6 weeks until no green is left
Step 4 - wait a little longer for just in...
