Welcome from Harstad:)
Big Agnes Air Core pad... Hmmm
Looks uninsulated - That might be the main problem and source of heat loss. I would suggest to pair up old Agnes with a closed cell foam pad and try a few nights...
I find your lack of impulse control disturbing, but you get an A+ for initiative
Hurry hurry, you can make it :)
"In Karasjok was Sunday at 13 measured at 37.9 degrees below zero, and in Kautokeino 37.8 degrees below zero. In Alta was measured at 18.5 degrees below zero, and...
I would guess that the coldest areas are the major rivers. When going by car from Alta to Karasjok the thermometer sinks when going through river valleys, and rises when going over the vidda "high...
Karasjok is a good starting point when cold is sought after. There is recorded temperatures down to -50c, but that's rare. -20 to -30 is more likely but with this winter there's hard to predict...
Looks like one serious shelter. Hopefully you'll get to try it out in the right conditions. Winter so far have been warm and wet up north, one exception is at the border towards Finland. Where...
May 2014 give you some rainy and stormy days when hiking - so you can get inspiration for some new need-to-have bling ;)

Got my package on Thursday. Two upgraded jarbidges and some small accessories.
Wierd that norwegian customs and domestic shipping takes longer than the shipping from USA to Norway, makes for a long...
I'm in ?
No shipping notification for me yet.
But I got a no-scam "you have won the lottery" mail from A.E. and a tentative shipping date :)
What upgrade did I win? Hint: you will not see me hanging...
The irony that your kit survived hell frozen over, only to have it destroyed by SAS... great pictures and a good adventure you had there. I would love to visit the market.

This post needs an update. Lessons learned?
Congrats on your new kit and the test trip :)
So at 0 C it was no need to enhace the UQ from DD? Nice.
Mabe we should do a local Hangout?

Try to put in your respective numbers in the calculator, and you'll get the idea of the forces involved.
If the trees are strong...
I use the stock webbing suspension on my wbbb. On the head end I have lightweight carabiner with red color. To identify the head end all I need to remember is " Red is head"

I'm not concerned about the sleeping bag beeing to cold, it's your underside that may have low temp. coverage.
Fjellduken would help, I'm only wondering if it will fit as cocoon? Maybee it's better...
I'll save you the trip to the marina. They don't carry any hammock suitable ropes there.
Locally you could buy thin polypropylene rope at OBS, or spare "bardun" rope at Parabolflua/gsport. It's...
Velkommen til HF
Hilsen Harstad ;)
I'm not a big fan of VB socks, but they work. Many polar expeditions have used these with success.
The principle is that you have a thin liner sock, the VB sock and then a thick sock. No...
I think you must first define "kit", what are the essentials?
The essentials to me are clothing, shoes, water and sleeping gear, everything else can freeze.
And nothing of this can freeze...
Last summer I went on a week long trek across the arctic tundra, and did a light field test of a wbbb and superfly setup in ground mode as there are few trees there.
Using hiking poles it was easy...
I don't think the eye bolt cares if the load comes vertical or horizontal. I would be more worried about twisting the stud behind the wall.
You can insulate the hose to withstand Ragnarok, but as long the air intake is on the high flow cpap Machine itself it will do you no good.
A HME filter like:...
Hi
Have you thought how you are going to connect the bag to the exped?
I have an older version of the exped, which requires CPR to inflate. I recently bougth a exped pump bag but then I also...
Bergans of Norway made some front pockets made to be mounted on the shoulder straps. Being mounted to the backpack they help to distribute weight. But are not designed to be used separately, without...
Good news for us on the other side of the pond :)
With a tax And custums penalty when the total amount of shipping and goods exceeds the limit, 5 vs 15 usd in shipping makes a difference. A 15 $...
Sorry. I assumed gender based on your actions
Now, this is something I don't mind being wrong about :)

So why didn't you just pack it as a one piece system complete with the down insulation? Beckause you knew it would lead to a moist hammock and more important: moist insulation?... I would like to see...
I think a onepiece hammock-insulation-tarp would only work in fair weather. As soon as the tarp is moist from condensation or rain it will transfer moisture to the insulation when packing down.

Velkommen. Nice to have you here.
I once bought a Hennessy hammock in copenhagen, can't remember the name of the store though..

From the northern part of Norway.
I us a full length UQ with my WBBB. It is square shaped, so the same width on the head and foot end. When I mount it I try to put the UQ on a slight diagonal, to maximize my laying area. The feet end...
But where is your post about a pellets stove? I replied and now it is gone?
Edit. Found it :)
Where is the LIKE button
Tinkering is fun :) But do the tarp need twice the strength?
I would first determine if stretching of the zing-it is the problem. Try a field test with pre- and post hang measurements of the cord....
does zing-it cord strech? Are you sure it's not the tarp fabric that stretches?

Drop the bivy. Keep the space blanket.
You already have a sleep setup. The space blanket gives redundancy in several areas. In first aid to prevent hypothermia of a casualty. In hiking to boost...
No need to over think it. Both are great tarps and will perform.
If you have one there is no real need to change.
When hammocking the tarp configurations are limited, where ease of setup and...
I have been testing this setup for a upcoming trip.
Using the trekking poles to make an A-Frame, I have found the height of 5 foot /155 cm to allow the doors to be "almost" closed. However I...
I have both the hilleberg (not the ul) and a wbbb superfly.
Both work great for hammocking. But the superfly packs smaller, is lighter and provide better coverage then the hilleberg.
When I...

Name them 'arrows'
The regular would be a green Arrow or yellow arrow etc. Corresponding with the fabrics color.
A large would be a long arrow.' long silver arrow'.
