Yeah it does. Maybe I'll just get both and see what happens. I'm thinking the less taught stuff might be better, considering I'm switching to 1.1 mm guy lines.
Sorry, wrong steak. I meant stake. Stupid phone.
I went to rei to get some shock cord, and I noticed that some had more tension(harder to pull on) than others. I know to look for stuff with at least 100% stretch. But would I/we want want the stuff...
Yup, I just ordered 2 in the 1.1. Now it's time to wait. I'll let you know when I get it, so we can have more data on shipping times.
There's quite a few threads about this. Most of my gear is black, but I like black, and it just accidentally happened. I have some greens and Browns. I think as long as you stick with the colors...
That's very kind of you canteen boy. I'm in
I purchased some mitten hooks from diy gear supply, and I got an email confirming my order. I got another email shortly after saying that they found a cheaper shipping option, so they refunded me $4...
I agree with everyone else. I have the arrowhead equipment new river, and it's fantastic. I like not having to be as delicate with it, and the moistness of the Pacific Northwest is what steered me...
That's what i was thinking, but I was afraid that the combination wouldn't work. Like maybe the figure 9 would tension the line to much. I'm just curious what people think. I'll give it a try this...
Not sure if it's been asked, but can this method be used with the figure 9 tensioners? I use those currently, and I like them, but I also like the idea of my tarp staying tight. I guess I could just...
I have the new River UQ and to me, judging by the pictures, it looks like both the head and foot end are a little loose. I tighten the crap out of both ends, but that's just me. I also use the side...
I'm in....
I would love to go, just don't know if I can afford to take that many days off from work. I'll let you know in a couple days.
Welcome from Olympia. You'll learn very quickly here. Tons of good info and very helpful friendly people.
I'm down for a hike/group hang. Just let me know when you are thinking so i can get the days off
Thanks everyone. I am pretty handy with a sewing machine, but I know a couple people who are better. :D I checked out the site and it was very helpful. Now I just need to get around to buying the...
Welcome also from the Pacific Northwest. Lots of good info on this site, everyone is friendly and laid back. Happy hanging
I'm looking at making a couple of synthetic TQs, and a sil tarp. So i am looking for some guidance from you diy-ers, and even those who are not.
Synthetic TQs: I'm going to use climashield apex....

Awesome. Thank you :)
Yeah i'm baffled too. Maybe I'll give it a couple more tries before I buy anything. Make sure things are correct. So ideally, how far should the tarp be above the hammock ridgeline?
I've seen that link caveman. It's tempting. Might do that. But a part tent huh? Hmmm.....nothing like having a little extra room.
Yeah sorry about not having pictures. Didn't really dawn on me to take any. I must have had my foot end to low. And come to think of it, the wind was blowing slightly at my feet. But now I know for...
Once again i'm fine with either, but for planning sake, let's make it the 7th-9th.
WLLO
GTUL
Those are the only two I own, but like them both.
Well that's what I was thinking. I slept under my tadpole in Florida during a thunderstorm, and stayed dry. I don't have any pictures though, Sorry. I called it quits at about 5am and brought the...
I don't really want to get a bigger tarp, let alone a new one. I was considering getting the grizz beak, or sending my tarp in to 2qzq and have them attach doors. I figure either of those will at...
I plan to. Going to make one for my nephew. Get him started young :)
So I decided to spend the night in my backyard, and I slept in my lite owl, underneath my tadpole. As I was laying there falling asleep, I felt water hitting my feet. I looked down and noticed that...
Thanks for the info. I think I'll just buy some silnylon and not worry about the ripstop. I have a bunch of ripstop, so that's why I was asking.
I'm not to worried about weight, but was more curious if it could be done. But if silnylon is about the same price then why not. Can silnylon only be bought online?
I have an outbound synthetic pillow that i opened up and filled with down. About to do the same with my Swiss synthetic pillow. Don't need a pillow, so a nice down pillow is just nice to have.
Wondering how water/weather proof rip stop is? I was thinking of getting some from Joanns to make doors. If it's not very weather proof, can you use a waterproofing spray, such as kiwi, to make it...
They do look awesome. I've considered getting one. I know we carry them year round(I work at a target) so no need to worry about them being sold out.
Hanging in the lite owl in florida. Not camping, just relaxing at the park.
Yeah it's an awesome tarp. I slept under mine through a Florida downpour with some wind and stayed perfectly dry. No side pull outs either. Great little tarp.
Hey no hurry. Thanks caveman
What about the winter upgrade? Can anyone vouch for it and say that it is really warm and worth it? packability isn't an issue, and warmth isn't add much since I have a good bag/TQ and good thermals.
........that is my question. I'm considering getting the new river for my WLLO, and i'm not sure if I should get the apex upgrade, the winter upgrade, or none at all. I live in Wa, and will camp all...
Hey caveman, any chance you could draw up some dimensions? I'd really like to make one, but don't really know where/how to start.
Wish the weather had been nicer. Practically in my girlfriends backyard. hanging from a concrete tower overlooking the satsop river, in Brady Wa.
I checked one of my local home depots and they didn't have it, or at least the employees had no idea what it was. I even combed the entire store a few times. Nothing. But I did find a large car...
Sweet, good to know for next time
Well I've picked up some goose down jackets from goodwill for pretty cheap. I just saw some today that had duck or water fowl down in them. Wasn't sure the difference.
....do I want to get, to make quilts, booties, pillows, etc. I've seen goose down, water fowl down, duck down. Is one better than the other? Also, should I avoid stuff that has feathers in it, even a...
Tea advertisement I saw tonight. Thought it was pretty cool.
Don't know who wouldn't want in lol I want in.
What about a backpackers tarp from Walmart? It's cheap. I have shock cord and maybe cord locks at home. And I can sew.
