I wish I could have made this but I'm hiking somewhere else that day.
I'm a pretty damned good guitar player myself, I just don't have the backpacker guitar. :)
I could bring a mandolin I guess, I've never tried hiking with an instrument.
Wow, really wish I could have made it. Who brought the guitar?
Great trip report.
I got a new digital scale yesterday and put the ridge light on it. came it at 8 grams with the battery but without drawstring and cord lock.
After a little more thought, if you went with a spreader bar design instead you could use something much smaller.
3" heavywall steel pipe is rediculously overkill for this. The issue mostly is rigidity as the load is very spread out across the bar. 2"x2"x1/4" steel square tube should be easily enough for this.
So, a while ago I had an idea for a small stuff sack that had sewable LEDs and a sewable coin battery holder with a switch sewn around the outside of it to use as an ultra light, low powered lantern...
Like I said, I wish I could make it but alas, I need to attend to some dental issues. I will catch you guys on the next one hopefully and I'll be happy to show off my cooking skills then. :)
Welcome from a Colorado Native and DIYer!
The trick with trout is to use an old tooth brush to scrub out the blood sack at the back of the spine, this gets rid of most of the bitter and fishy taste, You could also bake them in a dutch oven....
This should be sticky!
1. I'm much less cheap than I like the idea of recycling. I do things DIY because I enjoy the prosess more than anything.
2. I'm also saving up for a farm where, it's likely I will have geese. So...
That's why I mentioned the bleeder valve allowing me to control the volume of air. basically a tee with a smaller connection, probably a 3/4" line that connects into the box and a 1-1/2" end of the...
Ok, I've been known to be a little crazy when it comes to how far I'll take DIY, but know we a legion on this forum.
I have a few Thrift Store bought down comforters and I've been thinking about...
I really wish I could make it. After a long hiatus I'm just about done with my DIY gear. Quilts is all that is left and I've ordered the under quilt from UQ.COM. Just finished my tarp. Alas, I'm...
Very sad. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and every fire hurts my soul.
Well, the stitching might not win awards but it hangs just fine. It's a double layer 1.4oz follage gray nylon from DIY Gear Supply with a whoopie sling and toggle suspension. I love the color and...
Now I think we are talking the same language! :)
I'm one of those douchey Colorado natives. When I was a younger man I hiked 3 sections of the CT. I certainly would never go anywhere I didn't have confidence in my gear. I'm all ready planning on...
Cannibal, That would really be awesome. I really don't have any backpacking friends now so it'd be nice to meet up with some people and check out some things as I commit to gear. Ideally I'd like to...
Hey all, the quest to get back into backpacking moves forward. I've got my backpack built and it turned out way better than I could have hoped. Now I've got my hammock and tarp stuff on order from...
I've been lurking on the forums for a few weeks now reading and soaking up all the info I can. I used to hike and backpack as a younger man but have basically given it up for the last 15 years mostly...
