you don't need a biner, you can just feed the loose end of the tree strap through a sewn eyelet.
well, if you walk off leaving gear i guess it's like leaving unburned fire wood. you could make...
i use a biner on the eyelet side of the tree strap and my clip on the non eyelet side. those 3 peices never get broken down, always 1 and only make sliding adjustments
oldgringo -
not sure i follow you. won't the AHE cinch clips just slide off once you remove the tension from the whoopie? also, the dutch clip is a loose piece - is that what you could walk off...

instron tested this morning for load - sustained 1003lbs with no deformation, did not take to break. the metal did not enter a state of plastic deformation, measured gap at load and matches FEA...
there is a slight edge on the slots where the straps go through but nothing that will damage the tree strap. same for the amsteel. i tried them without sanding the edge and it left a mark on the...
don't know - i was thinking about 'the double-double' but i'm open to suggestions.
the stress on the webbing is applied mostly at the top slot but distributed throughout as it loops through. as it goes through the other two and then back through the first the load is distributed...
I was playing around with a design on getting rid of using a spike because I saw a guy slip and end up on his butt. i also don't like to use carabiners because they're too bulky in my bag so i came...
