Weighs in at 15.4 oz. The trick is getting it balled up to fit on a food scale ;-)
I'm switching back to ground camping (gasp), and I don't need this TQ anymore. Jacks R Better Shenandoah Top Quilt/Summer Quilt, 800 Fill Down (Activ-Dri treated). Size regular (78 x 48 inches),...
Though it's been heavier for me, I like using a larger tarp for this very reason. I keep it pretty low if I'm expecting rain.
Derizen was an AOL IM name I made up many years ago when they used to mail out AOL internet CDs. I wanted something short, and also used it for an e-mail for awhile.
Suffolk area. Haven't camped nearby yet, just Scotland, and it was in up in the hills on Skye so no trees.
I edited this once, but for the life of me I can't see any way to edit it now... everything is sold, thanks.
Warbonnet Traveler is still available...
Second FS thread, I had misidentified my UQ earlier, and I’ve added a tarp…
Tried to become a hanger, but after multiple attempts am deciding to give it up and go back to the ground. Selling my...
Yeah, turns out I canceled the Greylock order and went with a different UQ but then forgot about the whole thing. Will repost with other pictures/properly identified UQ.
It is the JRB GL3. I can hang it and take a different picture if you want. I went back to my original invoice from JRB to identify it, because I had forgotten which model it was.
Reposting due to error in quilt type.
Not "in" but wanted to say this is awesome!
You could use neither. I keep all my hard sharp stuff on the outside pocket of my backpack, and all the soft things go inside. They can be compressed to fit more things, or they expand to keep the...
Nice! Also have the advantage of a consistent setup, every night.
Stumbled on this site after hearing about it on backpackinglight.com. I was interested in the potential weight savings, and not having to look for the perfect flat ground to sleep.
It bums me out when companies that make a good product try to branch out into unrelated products. When looking for a sleep pad, I look to thermarest.
It worked.
She fell right into your trap!
Duct tape. If any of my suspension failed I'd be SOL.
Thanks for the tutorial!
Nice setup! It's great to see pics of DIY projects...starts to gives me ideas.
It sounds a lot cooler

Congrats! Going UL is one of the reasons I got into hanging.
Thread injector just a 'manly' way of saying sewing machine?
Out hanging a few months ago in the Olympic Mts and awoke to a black bear pawing at my tarp. I yelled then woke up, no bear, it was just a dream. I slept pretty lightly after that.
It's a trap! Next thing you know you'll be spending all your time on this forum/browsing cottage vendors's websites/tinkering with cuben fiber and amsteel.
It's only a heavy setup if you're looking for a lighter one/don't like carrying the weight of your current setup.
I got into hanging to reduce the weight I carried on trips, which is why I went...
I'll take it! PM me your Paypal e-mail address and I'll send the $.
Seeing this one and all the camo tarp setups, I wonder if anyone has ever temporarily lost their camp...
Anthony, where in AZ are you at? There's decent hammock camping in the Clear Creek area if you're in that area.
Saw this thread and started looking at local mil surplus stores for poncho liners. Now the tough part is to decide which pattern to use...
+1 on this, it helps to be able to learn from others, if I had to learn all this stuff by myself, I'd never have any time to do anything!
Creative hangs! I've spent about 60 nights in the Grand Canyon back before my hammocking days, and didn't see much potential for consistent hanging. We did have a guy on one trip that was able to...
Just discovered another reason to get a dog!
Don't want to take time or add weight, so I just fold them up inside the tarp. I do try to minimize the amount of moving or twisting of the lines as I fold up the tarp, I neatly lay them into the...
Welcome and enjoy!
I've had my knees bother me throughout the night while hanging, but if it's just a one or two night trip I keep hanging. For longer trips, I may have to go to ground in order to sleep. I'm...
Just discovered this thread, am excited to make a set!
Thanks, just when I had run out of things I desperately need for my hang, you come up with something new and clever.
I pee more at night while camping than while at home, but it seems to be because I'm colder and I'm more hydrated. I haven't seen any difference between when I camp on the ground vs. hammock camping.
Made up the username for video games, kept it because I never ran into any duplicates, which means I never had to worry about Derizen1, deRizen, etc...
Also, Driftwood was taken.
