Yes - you two were quiet but powerful movers and shakers. The video was tight yet really covered a lot and the group shots were great. Wish you were in it Donna. :) Glad to have met you both.
Really great pics - what a great spot to hang. Good save on the uq . . . a log crushed your stove?! :scared:
I'm packed & leaving early Friday am. Was planning on today but thought I'd pass on the storm. Look forward to meeting everyone - this is gonna be fun!
I'm working on getting there Thursday - anyone else? Looks like I can get a campsite for the night without reserving ahead. If anyone knows any different, please let me know.
Is there a list of items needed or cash donation to cover costs? . . . or both? :)
Happened to me more than once. Luckily I wasn't zipped in cause I had to FLY out of that hammock.
I don't think I was dehydrated at the time and hadn't been hiking but I do have some lower...
I'll take both 10' + 15' of 7/64 green. PM incoming.
Thanks Happy Camper and Pedro for organizing. Sign me up for the onions & tomatoes. Haven't decided on the pot luck entry yet but will post when I do.
Thanks, Ishmael! We got a little snow but nothing stuck. The interlude was a real treat. I bookmarked to watch again during breaks from tax prep.
I'll be there and ready to help.
Good times & good company!
First time I slept in my blackbird I hung the foot end too low. Even though my sleeping bag was open like a top quilt I still slid down all night. Still noobish and getting the sag and angles right...
Purdy, Syb. Glad I didn't see this one before I went to bed! It IS fun to play with gear!
I can see the easy on/off with the larks head top, but not the bottom knot so I'm wondering if you...
Wow - that's a wealth of info in a very short time. Coherent too. You done good!
+1. It's usually a big deal for me to get out - usually at least an hour's drive. It takes longer than I'm usually out to completely drop the city jitters but there's always transition time. I have a...
Way to jump right in with both feet. Fun, ain't it?
Please post your experience with the rayon in terms of stretch, wet/dry, weight, comfort. Many happy re-hangs!
Bradley, you have WAY too much time on your hands!:lol::lol:
Ok . . . I did. two bucks in the mail.
Probably payback for photoshopping in a bear near my hammock and showing to my friends. Two believed and one totally didn't because she was sure the pic...
Welcome to the Forum Tourezrick!
Thanks for the drive in/day hike option Karl. I plan to be there which ever date is chosen around MAHHA.
We'll miss ya XexorZ. Congrats on the incoming baby girl!
Thx, I got the idea cause I'm a fool for toasted marshmallows anytime I'm near a fire and these are easily convertible to smores or a peanut butter cookie.
Dunno @ the recipe . . . it's kinda...
payment sent via paypal. Thank you!
I really had a great time. This was my first group hang and I was so excited to be in the Pine Barrens in the middle of winter with all of you.
Hard to believe I slept chilled at 24* and warm at...
Maybe low tech and low cost, but quite an elegant solution. Thanks for posting turtlelady and please update on how it wears.
Also thinking out loud . . . I've never had bamboo that didn't split...
I expect to get there Friday by 2pm - earlier if possible to help with setup.
Bringing a dish for Sat and something for Friday. Definitely condiments, trash bags, food.
First time at Batona and...
SoundWitness - tough blow for Hammer & Nails. Wishing speedy and full recovery.
Congrats on being open to new experiences. Glad you had fun. That 1st pic is awsome!
While many do OR teach, you do both really well. I'm fascinated by popups and flexagons and that diagonal matchup & cut is magical! Enjoyed all your vids - thanks!
Thanks for the armchair ride to the cold and snowy woods and for taking the time to articulate what worked. Loved the many uses of your diy buff, especially the beanie. My neck's always cold - I'm...
Add me to the list for Fri & Sat.
This is my first group and winter hang. I was waiting for my UQ to try out ahead of time, but in the event that it doesn't arrive, I have plenty of warm layers...
17' is a lot of strap allowing for more stretch. A thought . . . since they're regularly used trees, maybe a more permanent strap higher up the trunk with rings or loop that you can attach the wbbb...
Great early report and pics, Pizza. Amazing that your brain is functioning so soon after all that deep cold.
You all were in a lot of peoples thoughts over the weekend. Bet you'll all have some...
Welcome! Glad you're no longer a lurker [yeah, I've gotta get outside!) Post some pics if you can of your diy hammocks.
Looks toasty! I like the diamonds, too.
I've been waffling between EB's throws on sale. Just went on their site and the down/fleece was gone which made the decision easier. I got the same one as...
Welcome! I'm sure we'll benefit by your experience as well.
Same here. I don't know if this has anything to do with why you have heel pain but when I first set up my BB seems like my ridgeline was always too tight - like scary tight - and sometimes I'd get...
I used my Superfly unsealed in heavy rain this fall. While they did leak a little, a few drops just ran down the tarp or dropped directly on the ground away from me like Brandon said.
That's an amazing 1st (or 50th) diy! Welcome to the forum and thanks for the great pics.
I tried to add during rush hour and disappeared a couple of times so I hesitate to copy & paste again. Please add me in if you catch this. Thanks!

Ain't that the truth!
Hey smalls, welcome to the forum. City w/o yard not such an issue before hammocking. Now I travel to hang. You'll enjoy those acres!
fuzzie, glad you posted your diy uq results. I'm working on a wind shield for my uq and over complicating it. Maybe darts like gargoyle said or narrowing it more like a football at the ends or a...
Don't know how to do the individual replying yet so to all - thanks for the warm welcome. Looking forward to some more hammockin fun! Might get to see some of you at the NJ hang later this month.
Hey everyone - Noob here from Pennsylvania. Thanks for the wealth of info and your willingness to share it. I had been considering a rope or parachute type hammock for a while and came across HF in...
