my machine can do the zig zag stitch but i cannot manually control the needle left and right. i really wish i could because i already know how useful it can be because of things i'd like to do but...
I'm in. That wood stove would be great. Thanks for doing the giveaway!
I too have never used a quilt. All through my boy scout days I always used a mummy bag and grew quite fond of them. Now that I have found hammocks I still like the mummy bags with some exceptions. My...
When I saw the PayPal balance I thought of the same thing... Then I remembered I wasn't married and I don't have to worry about those issues yet.
I'm in on this. Brilliant idea with the suspension caddy, it sure is a lot more organized than the bag I big throughfor my atuff
Oooooh! I think I missed the each part when I read it. Time to place my order then.
Edit: its nice when you go to check out and you realize you have a PayPal balance of $100 so only $25 had to...
I'm pretty bummed that I missed out on this sale. since I started sewing I somehow got tasked with making making all my friends a hammock amd the cinch buckle is my favorite suspension type it is...
I never had much luck using the rolled hem foot on nylon, it seemed too thin and slippery. When I tried it on cloth it worked ok, but I prefer doing it by hand.
I'd love to have a group hang around here, I'm in. I'll probably bring a friend who also hangs but isn't on the forums.
when i saw this thread i had to grab my camera. i think y'all would appreciate one of my recent diy's.

I understand, I just started learning to sew a few months ago and its a blast. Hammocks are a great place to start, nice long seams to try to do straight. Try is the key word cuz I still haven't...
Looks good! Where'd you get the camo fabric from?
Welcome to the fabric welding club!
When I picked up my sewing machine after I got it serviced the nice lady showed me a tip for threading the needle. If you put a light colored piece if fabric behind the needle it makes it easier to...
welding cloth with a thread injector is horribly addictive. making a hammock is only the start to the madness.
for me it started with stuff sacks to get to know my machine. then after a couple...
pumkinpete gets it. thank you!
thanks to everyone for answering all the questions while i was at work.
wilderness logics lite owl, tree straps, and whoopie slings for $100 shipped.
its only been used inside and around 5 times. i got it right before i got a thread injector and started making my own....
That is a cool idea. I'm gonna have to try that out. I've never tried out a footbox.
Just wait till your taking a nap in there and a kid falls on you. It looks great.
I love the tent pole idea! That's something I have laying around.
Sounds like we need to get a MS group hang going.
Awesome, we have another from ms joining our ranks! I'm in Jackson.
you can get Gutermanns "sew-all" thread at joann's, but i'm not sure where that stands in relation to the Gütermann Mara 70 Tex 40.
well i have defiantly learned something from this thread. i never knew about the straight vs cross wound spools. that would explain why the thread would get so twisted while using a cross wound spool...
Well didn't take the sag into consideration, I was thinking since I used an 11' hammock with an 11' tarp is need to increase it the same. I should measure my ridge line and base it off that.
So I...
How should I judge how long the tarp should be? The hammock I'm using is 12' so I was thinking that the tarp should also be 12'. Would this be correct?
I've been putting off this project for far...
Howdy from Mississippi to my neighbor to the east.
thats an interesting idea. i'm about to make a tarp and i forgot to get the D rings. i might pick up some of these while i'm at it to see how well they'd work.
The only cheaper option is to try to make a clone of it yourself, but its gonna be hard to get close to the quality of a genuine superfly. Its totally worth the money.
when sleeping in a bed my legs just don't feel as supported as they do in a hammock. i'm just tossing, turning, and waking up a few times throughout the night. its amazing how much better i sleep in...
i went to the beach with my family for a week. my friend and i set up our hammocks under the house and slept there the whole week. i've been back for 2 days now and haven't gotten a good night sleep...
i've been wondering about this also. its one of my next projects i'm looking into.
it took me a few tries to figure out the pockets.
each side of the pack was a different piece. i added an extra 0.5" seam line to every side of each piece. so the pockets i sewed on to each of the...
thanks guys! finishing a project with good results really boosts your confidence. there are a few flaws with this pack, but that's what version #2 is for.
jump on in! turns out the backpack...
when would be the appropriate time to use the zig zag stitch?
i was planning on riding my bike to the park today but its raining. thats the main reason i made this is that i don't have a small day pack.
i weighed the backpack and it is 5 oz and the pad is 1...
i'm sure a couple of y'all saw my last project, the overkill end channel. i made the hammock because i needed something easier to take my mind off the backpack. i finally got around to finishing the...
super useful info. thanks guys. i never knew 1 row of stitches would be so strong. i thought that the zig zag was overkill, but it was fun trying to do long straight stitches and failing.
the...
Im 6'4" and wasn't comfortable till I got an 11' hammock. I just made a 11.5' hammock and I think its the most comfortable one yet.
awesome. I guess I like a little overkill since I know who's making it :D
I'm making another hammock (#2) and I want to be able to run the suspension through the end channel. I have finished one side and I'm curious if y'all think it will be strong enough.
First I made...
As long as you have a pad or under quilt, your sleeping bag just needs to be big enough to cover down your sides and long enough to cover your feet. I use a sleeping bag and its nice not having to...
Haha that would be awesome if you used the seat belt buckle to attach the strap to your hammock! Use a cinch buckle or something on the tree strap side. Then you just click it on to your hammock and...
the whoopies should be easy to adjust the bury length. if you can undo the bury on the end that comes out of the bury or just cut it off. then you pull the free end through the bury and redo the bury...
i've had my sewing machine for about 2 weeks now. i've had time to play around with all the knobs and switches and try to make a straight stitch. i tried to make a square bottom sack last week and...
Like RR, I chose the yellow so I can see it. Even with the bright yellow I still trip over my lines.
Can I be part of the Jackson party even tho my Jackson is in MS?
