I'm always up for free comfort! Thanks so much!
I've liked on Youtube, thanks for the opportunity. :)
The ability to wake up in the morning well rested and ready to greet the day is what makes sleeping in a hammock a no-brainer. DIY is an addiction and this forum is full of enablers. :) Congrats on...
I'm in. Thanks for the opportunity and generosity!
I'm in, cheers!
I used the shower curtain liner method Debi mentioned...but, mine was recycled and I cut mine down to about 2' x 4'. The size is really about what's comfortable for you.
Please count me in.
I'm in...thank you!
I’m 5’10”, ~196lbs and also started out in the Expedition. My experience with ankle pain seems very similar to yours. I purchased a WBBB 1.0 DL and the stress on my ankles was reduced...
Interested, but I can't commit this far out.
I filed this one away in my subscribed threads:

Might point you in the right direction.
I've used this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Carabiner-Hand-Held-Fan-Light/dp/B003EPNUP0
It's lightweight, can hang from a ridgline, and it won't saw your face off if you happen to sit up into it at...
I think you're friends have inadvertantly discovered the next great dual use gear: Use a hiking buddy as an underquilt.

Erin go Bragh!
Well made video!
I've got a tip for you that works for me: When it's time to pack-out, take down the end of the hammock with the stuff sack first. Then you can stuff the hammock into the sack as...
Here's the old link...seems to work fine:

I've been able to make a whoopie sling ridgeline as well using a guitar string. I loosened up the line by massaging it a bit where I wanted to run the line thorugh. It takes a fair amount of...
As mentioned, DIYgearsupply is probably your best source for all materials. If you use Knotty's guide for gathered end hammocks (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15205) the line...
My Google-Fu found this:

Really like the site, PapaSmurf...I giggled when I noticed the pack opened as I dragged a hammock to it. Great concept. Now to save my pennies.
I use an old closed cell foam pad, of the Wal-Mart variety, cut down to about the length of my rump to my toes. It's about 1/2" and a rectangle. Got down to upper 30's in October and I never felt a...
Where's the "add to cart" button?
There is a post in the article section containing patents for most of the standard hammock designs:

Here's the link to PapaSmurf's BoyScout Kit: http://www.mydiygear.com/pages/projects/hammocks/bs-hammock-kit.php
Near the bottom he offers to build the kit for about $56 with shipping. That covers...
Interested!
Great shots of the fire!
I'm in...no, really.
Based on TrailH4x's design. :D
If (when) I make my next one I'll probably make some of the same changes you're suggesting. Especially locking down the spacer blocks and using different hardware....
Clergy may be present Friday night to Saturday morning.
Just a heads up, I previously purchased some "No-seeum" netting from Sportsman's Guide and I found it to be heavy and stiff with an almost plastic feel to it. I plan on making something out of it...
I think you'll be fine. Compared to the HH Expedition fly, the Basha is slightly larger.

I couldn't view the images on the site you posted, but I found them here. Along with a PDF version. Very interesting pattern.
You're correct about the orientation of my baffles, but I'm still in the "drawing board phase". Even using a lengthwise configuration, I want add some minor pleating to facilitate a better curve.
...
Thanks for updating your post, now I can close the door on that concept. You've given me a lot to think on regarding cat-cut baffles or pleating.
Time to spin up the old paypal account.
This weekend I had a lucid dream about different build techniques for IX in an underquilt. (DIY has become of sickness.)
My first thought was to build an IX layered underquilt using the same...

I'm probably jumping in on this conversation with a severe lack of knowledge...I read through most of the original thread and watch the video of your 10-steps to set up your stand. In the video, you...
That's not hanging, that's falling with style. ;)
I searched through the regulations regarding the Indiana state properties and could not find one with specific wording on hammocks. Here is the link to the regulations if you want to do some "light"...
I wonder if the glue tabs removed from the envelopes could be used in the same manner as the tape? I may have to play around with this...I work in a warehouse and can get FedEx envelopes at will.
...
I don't have any experience with Tyvek tape. How well is the glue holding in the warm weather?
Not so much as harsh, as just plain rude. There is a difference between the desire to havethe most innovative product on the market and claiming to be the most innovative product on the market. ...
I like where this is going, but rather than a belt, why not use the extra strap(s) as a backpack lashing or tiedown?
If you're using the belt to hold your pants up, what happens when you want to...
Thanks for the report. It's interesting hearing other people's insights on what they're learning on their first outings.
For myself, the heat wasn't a bad as 4th of July weekend. There were definately spots in the forest that felt stagnant, but down by the lake, we had enough of a breeze to at least move the air.
I...
I was wondering if I could find something locally. Thanks!
