My best advise is to try it. sounds like a fun way to use up a weekend and it might become a cool camping buggy. ( this idea has been rattling around my brain also )

I had a great time. My bedroom worked perfectly. already plotting my next trek into the woods. I'm up for december. was great meeting you all.
I have some loose prima loft. It clumps and doesn't move inside the nylon well. The sheet variety is better to work with.
It was a pleasure to meet all of you , and a great shakedown cruise for me and my gear ( the gear is in better shape LOL ) Looking forward to the next hang , and many hikes inbetween :)
I think I'll be up there as well. If the stars stay aligned as they are I'll be headed up there on thurs.I'm going to wander up the chattooga trail a bit camp and wander back on friday to meet ya'll....
I'm 6'4" and finally under 300lbs. and my nightly sleeper is a tablecloth hammock, my camping hammock is a double layer 1.9 DIY hammock. both are extremely comfortable.
I was laying. on just a comforter when I first started hanging fulltime, then the wife had a hot flash and I woke up cold and blubbering. Now I use an underquilt. Can always fire up a fan if it is to...
this is cool. I ordered a duck filled top quilt just the other day, birthday present to myself :)
now I'll have goose below and ducks above. a fowl situation indeed LOL
looks like a greenhouse. could de real warm on a sunny day. it's cold weather applications could be interesting.
Bias 9oz. adventure
dang that could be a huge banana split yummmmmm:)
I have a superfly, looking at it with pole mod in mind I was pondering 2 poles and adding ties at the pullouts instead of the ridgeline. since the pullouts will need seam sealing anyway.
I think...
Depends which side of the tarp is open, the angle of the sun , color of the trees, where my boots landed, that big drop off. I just get in and see which way I settle.
I'd sooner believe it's the grossgrain not allowing the side to stretch fully
Hang the tarp use some binder clips or clothespins to close the doors and also for your tie out points , then play with them till you have what you want.
mark and sew on new tie outs.
I'm in , thanks
really nice tarp :)
I made an under quilt with primaloft sport 6 oz. one layer it is good down to 40 degrees for me.
Thats in tee shirt and jeans.
I picked up 5lbs. of loose primaloft I am going to work with next.
So is that what those papers I find on my desk are?
Explains why i keep finding the estimates I staple to them in the trash.
Thank you for this calculator , it just cleared up a lot of questions i was about to ask :)
Save it for that patchwoork 900pf down under quilt your dreaming of.
The steeper the pitch the better the doors will close.
And, theres always a clothespin or two if you want it really tight.
Magna fabrics will sell you a 1000 yard roll of ripstop............ I didn't say that:rolleyes:
OH yeah I saw that building the other day , was wondering what they had.
you might need to add a range finder, to get the exact distance between those trees.
I picked up a superfly cause down here in Ga. when it rains it usually comes down in buckets, BIG buckets.
If your car camping bring a big old blanket, you can throw it over the ridge line and clothes pin one end and the bottom closed
. makes a good impromptue sock.
Thank you all for your comments
The pink "snake skin" was to irritate my son , it's going to be his tarp.
Methane, can warm your heart or singe your shorts.
I may give the hose idea a try...
Been busy making gear ,and finally had a warm night in the hammock :D
Rewhipped the hammock like caveman suggested in his recent thread and it made everything much better.
so my hammock,...
this is the way to go for me. tried it last night and made a huge difference in the lay of my diy hammock.

with tensioners you shouldn't need the prusiks, but you could just reverse your lines and put tensioners at the stakes.
Great pictures, I do miss the Maine woods in winter.
Theres always the ever useful clothes pin.
I use 1.9 tech line no problem.
No reason the smaller line won't work in the flyz, at worst you might have to take an extra turn around the antenna.
When it rains it pours, wife pulled a dead machine out of the closet yesterday.
http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p3/borday/sewing/SANY0755.jpg fixed the timing and it runs great.
Today she says...
I'm 6' 4" and 300lbs. I made a double layer hammock out of 1.9 oz. ripstop and hang it on 1/8" amsteel whoopies and straps from wratchet straps . it diesn't even flinch when i get in it. diy away ....
Ha ha, too funny I looked up thread injector on the internet before I figured out it was a regular sewing machine.
yes I'm gullible, someday I may tell you about special fuel mix.
I made a double layer hammock out of the same material , and with 1/8" amsteel whoopies it is stout and comfortable.
your problem maybe angle. when inserting the wire don't push for center it will catch on the core. slide in and up a little and you'll slide right through.
Man I miss snow, down here in georgia I might get snow for a weekend ......maybe
I gave up looking for IX, went with permaloft. we'll see how it works.
i made my hammock 12ft. after hem and channel it is about 11ft. 6 in. and lays just like a bed but way more comfy.
Olddog,
reminds me of the camp my aunt had in rangely Me. just across the creek and road from the only bar in the area.
The bar was so loud that people up the road would come down to our camp and...
Slept out in my DIY hammock last night, only a bit chilly , still 60's at night here in Ga. but had a pleasant sleep.
But man, dog next door barked till 5 am, at 5:30 am cat stopped underneath my...
electric fence wire works great for the amsteel, and 22 ga. soild copper for the tech line / zing it
Add a plastic bag and you could truly leave no trace.
Oh man , can't i just get two of everything first? Then go for all the colors?
