Definitely worth the wait! KK's fresh and hot are hard to beat - they just melt in your mouth!
Snow comes in quantities more than a foot? 10' of snow of Georgia.....it hasn't snowed that much total in my lifetime!
I've had mine for a couple of weeks and its great! Planning on sleeping outside this weekend to how it's does down into the 30's.
My New River came yesterday! Can't wait to take it out this weekend and set it up!
If it was shiny, it'd be a Christmas ornament!
Shipping notice came today! Hurry up Mr. Postman!
So how long til I should start meeting the mailman at the door to get my UQ? Not rushing you, just dadgum excited about it!
My order for a New River is in! Now that I've finished my Black Friday shopping, I'm going fishing.
Any free shipping this weekend? That New River UQ sure is calling my name!
Welcome from Rome, GA! Doodad - you're from my neck of the piney woods - I grew up up in Valdosta but have kinfolk in Blackshear and Patterson.
I have a brand new, never been out of the outfitters, WS Ride 115 that I need to sell. It's on layaway at Cedar Creek RV in Cave Spring, Ga. $750 gets you this brand new kayak - $215 to me and $535...
Hello from Northwest Ga!
I usually put everything in a trash bag underneath the hammock - depending on how wet things are I may or may not tie it shut. Smelly wet socks get binder clipped at the FOOT end of the hammock!
Sounds like a great trip. I won't have my yak paid for until after then. If y'all plan another trip later in the fall, let me know! Always ready to wet a hook.
What about the "it's 3am and I've Gotta Pee" gymnastics? My dismounts are so far from graceful it's not even funny!
We'll be there Friday night and all day Saturday. Looking forward to the cold water of that pool!
Check out the forums at JaxKayakFishing.com - there are some very knowledgable folks there.
Keep me posted. I'm saving up for a kayak - should pull the trigger on the WS Ride 115 sometime in mid-July. I'm up in NW Ga, but sure would like to get out on the water and catch some big reds or...
We camp at Stone Mtn on a regular basis and I couldn't disagree more with the negatives. We've never felt unsafe there and once in the park you feel like you're a thousand miles from the city of...
I keep an empty 32oz Gatorade bottle in my ridge line pouch for just that occasion! Make sure to label it with a sharpie so that is doesn't get inadvertently refilled with drinking water.
Great view! There's just something about hanging by a lake that soothes the soul. Here's my view from the Berry College Reservoir this afternoon.

Usually just use a folded up fleece jacket or no pillow at all...my head is rather large and heavy so the pillow doesn't move a lot.
If ENO made a hammock in crimson and white, every doublewide within 150 miles of Tuscaloosa would have one tied between the redwood deck and the clothesline pole in the backyard....
Go Dawgs! 40...
Wildcat Creek near Lake Burton is a FS campground that is hammock friendly and has some really good trout fishing too. Also, Red Top Mtn State Park on Lake Allatoona and Rocky Mountain PFA north of...
I'd say the best use for it would be to put it in a box and send it to Rome, Ga....
I totally agree. We lost power early Wednesday morning and spent all day watching the weather channel. I can honestly say that this is the first time I've ever watched Doppler radar with any...
We survived it in Rome. Lots of downed trees and power lines but so far no loss of life. Cedartown, Cave Spring, and much of Polk County got hammered though. All of my employees down there have...
Berry College did get hit pretty hard. Lots of trees down (hope my hammock trees survived)! Dorothy Cottage and Julia Cottage were both destroyed. No one was injured but still sad to see those old...
We got hammered here in Rome this morning and buckling down and getting ready for round 2 to come barreling in around 7ish. Looks like we are in for a wild night. Those of you above the Mason-Dixon...
If the box reappears, I'll take it and pass it after Newton.
Whoo hoo! Finally dipped my toe in the DIY waters. Spent the afternoon turning the 100' of Amsteel Blue that I got from the group buy into a pair of whoopie slings and a whole stack of soft...
Hello from Rome! There sure are lots of Georgians showing up here. Y'all make sure you put your name on the spreadsheet - let's show 'em that GA is the #1 state for hammocking!
I use a 5' piece of .024 wire from Home Depot to do all my splicing. First I tie it in a large loop and then pull it into a very very thin oval. One end gets pinched really tightly and threaded up...
Welcome from Rome!
Cheese!!! Just saw where you signed up. Welcome! Call me when your hammock arrives and we'll go find some trees.
How about an app that lets you post pics of your favorite hanging spots as well as a map to pinpoint locations of great spots to hang?
The beads on both of my whoopeis broke so I replaced each of them with a tiny S-biner - handy to hang stuff from too.
I use a DN with whoopies and 2" seatbelt straps from strapworks. Whoopies hook to the straps with a marlin spike hitch made of 3/4" red oak dowel. I'm about to replace the stock carabiners with...
Y'all are some crazy folks!! I couldn't handle snow this late in the year...down here in GA we're in the mid to upper 80's! We have one good snow (4-6") every couple of years and that's plenty! ...
Wow! We sure have built up a pretty big Georgia delegation in the last couple of months! Lot's of North Georgia folks here.
I'm game for a hang at Red Top in May - we were there last weekend and...
I usually find a big rock or some leaves. You know what the say, "leaves of three, sleep in peace"....or something like that.
Hello from Rome, Ga!
Y'all got me thinking about some barbecue and Brunswick stew and it's 1:45am! Might have to make a run over to Two Brothers BBQ in Ball Ground or down to Fresh Air BBQ in...
Love the DN! Went with straps from Strapworks and whoopies from whoopieslings.com. Use 2-3" pieces of 3/4" oak dowel rod for my marlin spikes (it's what I had in my workshop). My bugnet is a diy...
Hey y'all!
Anyone interested in a 2 night hike/hang/fish weekend from June 3-5? Looking for a place to go and people to go with....any takers? any locations? The idea I had was to hike in on...
Way too rainy to enjoy the great out-of-doors here in NW Ga. Anyone interested in rescheduling to the first weekend in June? My wife is heading to the beach for a girls weekend and I'm heading to...
They do function as a drip line as long as the "tail" exits the line underneath your tarp. If the tail is outside the tarp, any rain that hits between the tail and the tarp will run down to your...
I've got a DN and cover it with a Warbonnet Big Mamajamba. The price, quality, weight, and size all were what I was looking for in a tarp. I hate to be wet and the BMJ provides plenty of coverage. ...
John Sawyer and I did this as a result of a thread on the DIY forum. I needed a simple ridgeline organizer, he needed mitten hooks, and had some ideas for the RLO. We collaborated on the design, I...
Did you run into the mountain bikers? The 17 mile race started at Snake Creek Gap and the 34 mile race started somewhere 17 miles back up the trail.
Im glad we were off the trail Saturday...
Start at the Snake Creek Gap and head NOBO about 5 1/2 miles. There is a great place to camp alongside Swamp Creek. Plenty of water, fire ring and lots of trees! Swamp Creek is the only reliable...
