Hey HC4u, which netbook did you get?
I think he said he was using a topper. They cover the post holes.
If I were going to hang a bridge in a pickup bed I would omit the spreader bars & suspension ropes all together. I would install 4 heavy bolt hooks, 2 on tailgate & 2 on the wall next to the cab....
If you do not expect heavy or windy rain I would go with an 8x8 hung diagonal like the JRB 8x8.
I have some challenge cloth &, while is is very strong, it is also very "crisp". Feels very slick & sounds like wrapping paper when handled. Also not breathable. That is why it makes good kites. Not...
Got it today! Thanks Roadrunner!
Got ten rings in today & have the results for the gram counters:D
Lightest ring = 12.635 grams
Heaviest ring = 13.277 grams
10 count average = 12.969 grams
Seems the the weight may be related...
If you are set on using a pad consider sewing a double layer bridge hammock. I recently made my first one and it came in at less than 2 lbs including suspension. However that will require a larger...
Even at 13.1 still a great deal at $1.65 each shipped, IMHO.
In that case you have quite a few choices.
If I am not mistaken I think she told me 11 grams. I will have a dozen here Monday or Tuesday & will weigh them. I have a 0.01 gram balance at work in the lab & will post an average, high, & low when...
I have been in contact with slingrings about the strength of their small aluminum rings. Just thought I'd share the info:
Mike,
In the independent testing that we have had done, the small rings...
IMHO I wouldn't use it for any more than a light rain with no wind! Any more than that & I think your gonna get wet, esp with the hennesy sides pulled out.
Not really anything close unless you can find one in Northern Louisiana. Otherwise you will have to drive a couple hours.
Didn't see that! Sorry:(
see it here
I believe they are the same rings shown in the first post.
Looks great! Have you thought about using the spreader bars as some sort of frame when in pack mode? Would be sweet if you could!
Most likely the wife will acquire it as she likes to "hide" from the animals when she sleeps outdoors. I have a ton of material in the closet so that's not a problem. Used cane as the spreaders,...
Thanks for the input! Addressed all my problems! I'll try your dimensions on the next one. I did manage to get a flat lay by lengthening the ridge line, but its a B***h to get out of, just too wide....
Finally tried my hand at a bridge & it seems to work really well, but I find it not as flat as I had hoped. 6" cat cut on each side. Thinking of trying again with a deeper cut! Also I started with...
HA! I misread the title & thought it said Mostly old hiking BOOTS!:scared::confused::lol:
Much lighter & much more compressible. More compression = smaller pack = even less weight.
you will be fine with the factory lines at 210#. Breaking is around 3000# on those lines.
Earplugs!!!:D
whats the cost of that stuff? I would love to hear a report on its performance.
Got the stuff together to sew a bridge hammock but have a couple easy questions. What is the optimum cat cut for an 8 footer? & optimum spreader bar length? Thanks
Try a little talc in the end covers where the rope is attached to the hammock.
I got AmSteel 7/64 from him last year. Didn't see it on there now! I used it for the hammock main line. I think it weighs in at 1.3 grams a foot and a 1400# break strength.
Down will compress much smaller than a similar rated synthetic bag. Bag ratings go out the window when you start using them with a hammock (off the ground).
I've been getting mine here. Good selection & prices.
Very Nice quilt!! I used pins on my first quilt and still have down coming out of the holes left by them. Hope your luck is better.
A DWR quilt would dry in a day if you got it wet. A sil quilt might dry in a week if your lucky. None of the bag or quilt mfg's use sil for this reason.
Radio Shack or any other electronics store.
The 8.99 hammock came in today. Construction & design appear to be identical to my Bliss hammock. so far so good!
Epinions reviews. Maybe good, Maybe bad!?! I'll let you know in a couple weeks.
Found this today. Pretty Good price!
Do some research. I think you can get a better/lighter tarp for the same/less money. I'm not knocking tom's stuff, its good. Just better deals to be had. If you sew, you could make one for half the...
LMAO:D I think the bugs prefer them attached!
Lake Texoma is a little far for me but, if you all decide to do one in AR let me know. I'd like to go.
1000 d cordura is about 7 oz a yard. Very Heavy!
See Hammock demo #2. I have never seen these before. Looks like a Hennessy in the demo.
Instead of hemming a line in the edge you could use suspender type clips on the guy line ends to attach to the hammock. You would have infinite adjustment that way.
I was only tapering for the last 24", so it would not be much of a savings for me. I made a synthetic one that was tapered and did not like it. It limited the usage.
I can't seem to make those numbers work in my design?!? What are your specs for your quilt design?
The last quilt I made was 48" at both ends (3.25" loft). I calculated tapering the last 2' from 48" down to 40" for the footbox. By my calculations I would only save 15.6 grams (.55oz). I am glad I...
I have had one of their open models for several years, and it is by far the most comfortable of all my hammocks. I think I may try this one and run a cord thru the netting and attach to the ends for...
This might be fun at the next group outing!?! Could use a white tarp as a screen.
I think that would focus all the edge stress to one point. Would be easy to rip at that point. IMO.
Anyone tried one of these?
