Looked like a great trip with epic views! That's my kind of my type of trip  I particularly liked your last campsite over the rocks near the river. A site that only a hammocker could...
I was near the Finland area 2 weeks ago and it was too cold for anything to be buzzing around. I read a post on the SHT facebook group that a couple people ran into a few skeets. With the recent...
Welcome to HF!
Nice report! Glad you one of the few guys to actually convince their significant other to go backpacking!
I found a few Fronkey straps, mugs, sporks before ...wish I knew they were...
Welcome from another MN hanger!
Clever idea! Let us know how durable it is...Did you seam seal the seal?
Looked like a blast! Wish I could have made it...I definitely want to hit that split rock campsite, looked pretty stellar! So when are we going???
Looks like a great time! I've been to Mazatlan 3 times, but never to the gulf side.... I dig the hammock hostel!
I have 2-6 footers...probably overkill for the SHT, but I like knowing I will always have enough. Like others have said, 4-5' will work.
Congrats to you guys!
Welcome to HF!
Welcome to HF!
Nice set up man! I want to do this as well. Are you concerned about the sil being so close to your stove? What material are you using for your stove pipe heat guard?
Count me in!
You don't need very much...Sleep system, water, a little food and maybe a insulating layer.
I tend to bring a lot more on those types of trips though, because that's when I usually test out new...
Nice article!
I like this quote from Shug, "I think all of us agree when we’re out there talking around the campfire that every one of us has friends and family that just don’t understand our...
You could use it like this http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=31172&d=1327201998
We used it at the MN cold butt hang and it rocked. It made the the whole area really...
Nice meeting you TZ...Hopefully, I'll see ya again out there on the trail or a hang!
Just missed you as you were going and I was coming...I still got to beat my previous record though! I believe it was -15/-16 on Fri. night. See ya out there on trail...the cold, cold trail...
Great vid as usual dude! However, I believe I am now renaming you Yard Sale......:D
+1...Cheaters!
Ok, does anyone see something we don't have?
I can bring bagels and peanut butter for adding to the breakfast on Sat./ Sun. morning...How many to bring?
So, what else are we missing that I can bring? Let me know...I will be there Fri.-Sun.
Oh zipcam how I love you and hate you at the same time! The porterhouses were pretty stellar though...Tell Kiba she has a spot in my hammock anytime! LOL
I just saw some Black diamond poles on steep and cheap for $40..I have the same ones and they are great...very adjustable for many sizes. Not sure of shipping rates to Australia though..
I might have to add some shockcord to one of my hammocks and give it a whirl...Well done....and now I want to play with a boomerang!
Sorry to hear about your job man..I too know the feeling of being laid off/losing a job. Besides that, nice vid.
Welcome! Quite a winter...might want to plan to make gear for temps lower than 50...for next year :D
I am in for the Warm, I mean Frozen butt hang! I work on Fri., so I plan to shoot up right after work. Count me in Fri./Sat.
Like others have said use polyester and here in MN I find 6' to be a max. you would need. I haven't needed anything larger. You could go smaller, but it's easier to trim later than add more :)...
I have used zing it with 5-6 wraps. Also, kelty trip tease bites very well because it has a rougher, more aggressive feel. Both work for me...
Well, I am an electrician...so the name goes hand in hand...
I HAVE had me some of that Devil's tower lager..it was pretty good after a 70 hour work week...Nice vid man!
Welcome to HF! Another Minnesotan hanger here too!
The method you are talking about would work better with primaloft and not down.
I have a sewn through down UQ that I have taken down to 25 degrees, however, that's pushing the limits and is...
That's pretty awesome man!
I will have to now, check the trees 50' up for hammocks...lol
Do you have a table that attaches to a tree to cook or just cook on the ground? It would be pretty...
I'm in! Thanks
Well, "The Natural" cannot go back to Ireland without a hammock and all the fixin's...it's only natural :D
It was a fun quick overnighter! I am glad I could make it out for the night with all of you.
Timmy can go back to Ireland with bragging rights!
Let's do it again sometime....soon!
I had a blast! It was nice meeting everyone that attended, it went by really quick though....
It was fun looking at all the different gear/ setups people had. Lots of new ideas and knowledge I...
I too saw it in person, and must say that thing is awesome! Lots of time and effort went into that bad boy. It looked very well made.
Timmy looks like he is ready to rock!
Right now it says it should get down to 6 degrees...Bring it on!

Sign me up! I've always wanted to read it.
Silnet works great. I've used it for patches on backpacks. It's works great for any sealing that I have needed...
Agreed! +1 on the Hilti anchors...I always use Redhead brand but, both are high quality. At work we hang hundreds of pounds of conduit and wire from these bad boys...
Not sure I would trust that with human weight...3/8'' drop in can support quite ab it of weight. If doubled up with a 2 X 4 as previously stated that would be something more trustworthy...YMMV
You should get a machine thread eye bolt instead of a lag or wood anchor. I would use a hammer drill and set 3/8'' drop in anchors. Then you should be able thread them right in. You can remove...
You as well. I never saw the sign posted stating that if you hold the button for 60 seconds it will pump water...maybe it's new or I am ignorant
Tell Timmy that layers are his friend! ...
I'm a maybe for Friday night. I have plans Saturday so, I will have to leave in the A.M. Sat.
Regarding the water situation, the well is still on. I never knew until this last weekend that it...
Welcome to HF! The Packers are unwelcome though :D
