Thank you Charlotte!
Double E.... yes. Been humoring the specialists for 4 years. I’ve been a very good patient. Finally seeing results. Just finished a week long trip at 12,000 feet. 1st trip in years. Ah, it was...
I think I should do the proper thing and re-introduce myself. IÂ’ve been absent from the forum for about 3 years. Due to a major work upheaval then 3 eye surgeries over a few years, and no...

I wonder what is written on the tombstone for Ol' Greenbean?
Does anyone have a Pecos Wilderness Trail Guide and any maps (Trails Illustrated, etc)? I'd love to swap some of my money for these.
Thanks so much!
If I dropped the price to $275 for this great pack that some rate higher than a Zimmerbuilt, would anyone pull my bobber under the water? Any nibbles?
Thanks everyone.
This pack is very comfortable...I have used it on 1 overnight trip covering 22 miles. It is a medium torso, medium belt. No adjustments or alterations have been made. The pack is just like...
Hi everyone...I'm not exactly new here but I've been away from the forum almost a year. My company moved me to start up a new large operation. It's been "fun". I'm finally seeing light at the end of...
I sew my ridgelines with no cat cut. But I put them on the ends and sides. That works just fine.
Just got my 20 degree Flight Jacket Totally impressed with the workmanship, quality, and the Illume15 fabric is really nice. Customer service was top notch. Great job, Paul and Missy!!!!
You might try some Griz Beaks on the ends of the tarps. They work wonders at keeping the breeze out.
Sold! Sorry about the rule breakage. I'm used to BPL rules. I'll punish myself by not sleeping in the hammock tonight.
*** sold *** I've been on this site as a member who mostly read the posts.... And learned a lot. I have a Hammock Gear 40 Phoenix that has 2 nights on it. Nothing wrong at all, I just prefer their...
Would this fit a 6'0" fellow? How much loft does this have?
I sure hope I can go. Smokehouse, I'm going to try to get out of work early and maybe ride up with you. Have to wait and see on that.
I love ERL, too. Winding Stairs is really nice.
Found one!
Just replied to your PM Jon.
Looking for a HammockGear Incubator or Phoenix 40 UQ.
I have a 20 degree overstuffed Incubator so I need something for warmer weather. Anybody have anything just hanging around not getting enough...
Welcome from Arkansas. Hope you can make it to the Arkansas Hang. We'll be having fun!!!!
Welcome from the Arkansas Ozarks....
For me it's the Weminuche Wilderness in SW Colorado and the Wind Rivers in Wyoming. Used to live out there and I'm sure hoping this whistlestop in Arkansas is over soon.
Ventilation is the key to reducing condensation. I was out this weekend in 22 degree weather. Quite breezy to boot. Nary a bit of condensation on ye ol' tarp. The next night was only 28 but it was...
Get a good tarp soon. That will allow you to sleep when it can rain. Everything else will come later...but it will definitely come!!!!
Going out for 3 days this weekend. Temps will be in the 20s at night... nothing critical. Being burrowed down in my goosedown jacket, Katabatic Gear quilt, and HG uq, and Black Rock Gear hat is...
Absolutely!!! 10 degrees and sunshine is sooooo much better than 40 degrees and rain.
BackpackingLight.com has some neat ideas on going ultralight. Check them out as well. AquaMira is the best. I've not used filters in years.
I'd say you're on the right track. Keep doing what...
What I want to know more about is what you guys cooked up in those Dutch ovens? I do love me some Dutch oven food.
Can't wait to read the trip report from Shugsickle. This one oughta be good.
"Are you here with me people?"... :boggle:
Smokehouse. Count me in. What time are you leaving Friday?
I'm all for a small sit pad. Mine is 18"x12". I use it on pack breaks, sitting my the stream meditating, lots of places. At night it's either under my feet in the hammock or in the ground to stand...
Plus, hanging at 30 degree angle just feels better.
Theoretically yes. We tried shock cording them to the D rings on the tarp, but that didn't work as well as we thought. I ran the beak cords through the D rings then staked them out.
I wonder if...
I agree. Take them when I need them, leave them at home when I dont need them. Use one, use both, use neither. Beaks give so many options.
Mine weigh about 2.3 oz each.
Just had to do some hammock and gear testing over the weekend. My good buddy, Smokehouse, made some beaks for the ends of my tarp. For those really bad storms these oughta keep the windblown...
I'd say you married pretty good there! I agree with hcdc11. Get her a hot pink one (or whatever her favorite color is). Then take her hammocking: set yours up, let her crawl in, then set hers up...
Got it all dialed in. The doors are more like beaks but I love 'em. Had to change my HG Incubator attachments slightly. Got some sway time after it was all set up. Just chillin' now but looking...
3 day weekend:).... Snowstorms are gone:):).... Ice is gone:):):).... Sun is out:):):):)... I'm going hanging to test out a Grand Trunk Nano 7 and new doors for my custom tarp.:):):):):) Gotta...
I've felt it a bit (hammock bunched under me) and it was always when I had my whoopies too tight. My hammock needs to hang a bit looser. I finally got my ridgeline set and that helps me keep the...
I have the Incubator and it is great. Wonderful customer service sold on HammockGear.
My top quilt is from Katabatic Gear. Absolutely love it.
Your set up will keep you warm in the outdoor...
My sit pad becomes my frame. At night it goes under my legs if I need more warmth...or it stays on the ground as a "floor mat" to stand on.
My understanding is they just don't use BPA in them any longer. Bisphenol A was found to cause health issues so all the top companies quit using it as a plastics hardener in food grade containers.
I'm 6'1" 180 lbs. I am comfortable in a home made 11 footer or in a GT Nano that is well under 10'. I'mn testing to see which I actually like the best.
I cut an old RidgeRest down to 18"x12". I take that lovely thing everywhere I go.
Yep... I simply take a Gossamer Gear thin pad. I can sleep on it, my feet go on my pack, and my tarp is set up on trekking poles. Never a worry...
Oh Brian...you are making me so homesick!!! Have you done the CDT from Wolf Creek Pass to Silverton? Glorious, absolutely glorious!!! I wasn't hammocking then and was camping above T-line nightly,...
Great way to spend time together while helping other people and getting to hang.
I'd be concerned about weakening the plastic in the gatorade bottles. It's a different material, thinner, and not as durable. Definitely try it at home to see what the bottles do. I've deformed...
Sure hoping I can do this one. May get in later on Friday. Hey Smokehouse, if I give you my rig do you thing you can have my bed ready for me? ;)
