Self inflating mats are pants in hammocks IMO, they are a pain and keep moving. Even with blobs of silicon, I cant get on with them. CCF mats are much better and are warmer than UQ's for the same...

I used my DD travel for a while with ccf mats. They do work quite well, especially as a ground sleeping system too and are lighter than UQ's.. You don't need an UQ, but they are better.
