Any specific models, who sells the brazilians?
Hey everybody, haven't posted in a while. Got a couple of questions. I've searched and haven't gotten a Definate answer so I thought I'd ask.
So the soon to be ex is sending movers tomorrow......
From Dumb and Dumber. "Just let it go man, let it go."
Boots go near my head so no wet feet. Unzip mosquito fly, roll to the side and water the flowers. Last year in the boundary waters I...
Take a look at Carnatha blackmouth curs, he looks very similar. Whatever he is he's nice looking and I bet you don't get many critters wandering underneath you with him posting guard!
I was hanging this past weekend at my farm in the mountains. It's fairly isolated and I go just inside the woods and hang rather than sleep on the crappy bunk beds in the cabin. At around 3 am I...
Great report! I feel you on the footwear. I chose the new army desert boots for my main shoes on my Boundary Waters trip. NO ankle support and waterlogged very easy.
What kind of dog is...
The bass up there don't taste any different than the walleye really. Just a different texture. The water is so deep and clean there is zero algae. Now here in Kentucky this time of year, I let...
Man, I need one of those! I wonder how the bottom is rigged up?
I'd be dead asleep in 5 minutes in my hammock. it'd work though other than that. I've been sleeping in my hammock at hunting camp...
It looks like a ditch but it's actually a pretty good grade hill that's covered with a juniper like evergreen. I was as high off the ground as my little short legs could reach. At first I tied my...
Here are some pics from my Boundary Waters trip. We were there 9/9-9/17. Stayed in 3rd bay of Lake Saganaga if anybody knows where that is. We had 8 people, 6 of which stayed in tents, two of us...
The Gorge can be rough if you aren't familiar with the area. I've lost two friends who thought walking around at night was a good idea. One had only left his tent to relieve himself, they collected...
Glad you had a good trip, I head up in 8 days, can't wait!!!
Did you do any fishing? We base camp and fish on Saganaga EP54.
That wind up there can come up in a hurry, the only thing worse than...
Thanks Bags, think we got this taken care of quick!
I've got a friend that liked my Claytor so much he wants one or one like it to take on our Boundary Waters trip. He wants something with bugnet and a tarp and it needs to be good for a plus sized...
Anybody know how to get in touch with hactorious to see if he has anymore Claytors in the US? I sent him a PM but see he hasn't been active since March. Got a friend wanting one.
Welcome, I'm in Lexington as well. Don't hike but canoe and camp fairly often. I'd be up for a Kentucky hang as well.
Thanks for this, wish I had seen it yesterday. After my first sewing session ever yesterday I can truely say I was NOT a seamstress in a former life. I was able to hem on a small gear hammock and...
I like this. I would think that the ridge pole would take the brunt of the pressure but if the two 3/4" uprights hold you it looks like you would be oK using a 3/4" ridge pole. But then I'm a newby...
I set my Claytor up for the second time today. There was a squal line moving through so I ran out and put it up. Just as I got the last knot tied the rain started. It rained for 2 hrs, I slept for...
Got my Claytor the other day from a forum member (thanks again Optimator). My 12 year old intercepted the box (as he always does when dad gets something in the mail, good boy). All was right with...
I know what you mean, our last camping trip to the river the kids hauled about 100 pounds of sand into the tent when they went to bed. I ended up spending the night in 3 folding chairs lined up for...
Just tell them that you got used to sleeping in hammocks during your years volunteering in the Congo
Hey exdiver.
Where did you go in June? We put in at EP 52 and normally camp in 2nd or 3rd bay on Saganaga. From there we day trip to Ottertrack, Ashdick, Ester, ect. Can't wait to get back. We...
Hey guys, my tarp/hammock supplies are on order so I've been researching making a UQ. I'm mostly a summer camper with some fall trips thrown in.
Every year I make a trip to the Boundary Waters...
Thanks GvilleDave. Is this the stuff that isn't ripstop but is 100% nylon? I think this is what I found on the Hancock website for 2 bucks a yard, I looked at it at the store yesterday, not ripstop...
Do you need to treat this with anything to make it waterproof or is it good as is to use as a tarp?
Thanks guys, I printed that out and took it to the store. It's nylon but not rip stop. You couldn't blow through it so I'm assuming it was somewhat waterproof. Maybe it would make a good tarp?

I'm new at this and gathering materials for my first hammock. None of the walmarts around here have fabric anymore but I was on Hancock and found this:
...
I know what you mean. I called 5 today before a lady told me that two of them still carry fabric. My Sister in law makes drapery for a living so I'm going to cut at home and use her commercial...
I had to search to find out the same thing... I'm sitting here thinking "great, there's some alternative to using a sewing machine".
Nice looking tarp! I just joined too and I'm from Kentucky too (Lexington). Where did you find your supplies? I'm scouring the two walmarts in the area tomorrow for nylon.
