We've been trying to rig a tarp across the woodwork to keep some of the sun off during the day and dew off at night. My Mamajamba isn't quite right, slaps noisily against the beams. Wonderful to lie...

Very much. Still used the Incubator though!

I can't think of a better way to recover from my night shifts than staring up at a big ol' moon with a full belly and a peaceful mind. I may just sleep out here...
I suppose it does look a bit Middle Earth! I'm a long way from where they filmed it though ;)
I'm in Auckland, but these were taken at Te Akau, not too far from Hamilton. Not too many hangers...
Oh yeah, summer's pretty well here but still cool enough at 3 AM to need a bit of Incubator to ward off the chill!
Went to a friend's farm over the weekend and snatched the chance for some hammock time. As it turns out, the only available attachment point near the house was this home-made swing set, Kiwi style!...
Great to hear you're back in the saddle again!
Shug has a couple of 'superior' Superior videos, maybe they'll help out :)

Wonder if there's a market for zebra stripe treehuggers? Or polka-dot. Leopard print? :)
Blackbird XLC all the way for us big blokes! Highly recommended. Never once felt cramped in the shoulders. Alternatively, a bridge hammock might be an option for that uber-flat lay.
Welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :) I think everybody starts out with a pack that's a bit too heavy, I know I did!
I must be in the minority, but I really don't like camo gear. I guess my brain just sees those patterns as for a specific purpose, and since I'm not really trying to blend into the background using...
As a newcomer the thing that strikes me is how dependent UQs can be on rigging/adjustment. Or perhaps I should say, how flexible they are? With my 20° quilt nicely snugged up at the ends it easily...

Yeah, was unable to access the site from a range of New Zealand IPs over the past couple days. Mostly would've been from the 121.99.*.* range. Have had intermittent difficulty reaching HF from...
There are devices like the LST (Lazy Slug Tube) which can make things a little quicker if that's what floats your boat.
G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :)

G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :) I know the HHs are easy to get in this part of the world, but don't discount the cottage vendors in the US, the international mail is surprisingly...
I take my old Kindle. I don't know what the newer model weighs, but the Kindle 2 is lighter than many books and the battery lasts ages if you turn Wi-Fi off. I've also become addicted to splicing,...
I believe people are having success with the Superfly/XLC combo, and the XLC is an 11' hammock. My tarp is a Mamajamba which is basically a Superfly without doors, and it provides sufficient cover...
Not an insulation expert but I am a registered nurse, so for what it's worth... I think as long as you stay warm it won't matter what insulation you use, but I think you could argue that a full...
I'll just add a big plug for my favorite substance on earth, merino wool. and in particular, a New Zealand company, Icebreaker. Their stuff is so comfortable, and dries ridiculously fast, but still...

G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :) great looking rig!
Hah! My whoopie hook suspension arrived at work because I'm moving house at the moment, and so I had to explain A) why I was so happy, B) what a whoopie sling was, and C) who Dutch was. They were all...
G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :)
Just moved into a four-bedroom house with three others. No trees suitable for suspension, but there's a deck with posts... couldn't sleep after night shift, so next best thing:

DL just for the ease of using a pad, I reckon... but then I'm a UQ guy, so what do I know? :)
Big guy here, absolutely no problem with the netting in the footbox. I think it's just a question of having it set up correctly and laying enough toward the head end. Fantastic hammock, no plans to...
G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :)
Epic! Travelling with a hammock in Oceania seems to be an exercise in explaining to the people you meet, "No, I don't get cold, no I don't really want to sleep in a bunk!" I just think of them as all...
I use a Mamajamba. Plenty of people use the Superfly with their XLC, which is basically a MJ with doors added.
The webbing is really very good (especially with Dutch clips!) I'm flirting with a whoopie hook suspension, to try to save weight but keeping the webbing intact so there's always the option to switch...
G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :)
I'm a little taller than you and about the same weight. The XLC 1.1 DL is working well for my dimensions. I suspect I would've struggled with the regular size BB. I don't have a Superfly, but my...
Brandon's the man for sure. So happy with my BB.
Isn't the Traveler pretty similar lay-wise to a BB, just without the bugnet?
G'day and welcome from Auckland, New Zealand :)

At what point do hammananigans become hammofoolery? ;)
I think we may need a forum poll...
Wait... Dutch makes computer chairs now? That's a whole lotta titanium!
If I'm reading the table at the Warbonnet site right, my XLC 1.1 DL with bug net and webbing suspension comes in at 32 oz/900 g. In the process of swapping to whoopie hook suspension, but still I'm a...
I love these forums... simple question, boom, 11 trip ideas :)
Covering the whole thing in Cuben might be fairly pricey :D
 first equal? ;)
