To be honest, you should consider something in MA. I can't think of a spot along that trail where you don't hear traffic from a nearby road and that is bothersome.

Sorry Ladies and Gents but I'm going to have to back out of the trip. A work situation has reared its head.

When rooted to the ground the forest sways and creaks around you but when you hang one is part of the swaying and among the creaking.

RI should be listed in New England because to reach the state you must drive through Connecticut or Massachusetts.

I don't understand how everyone can ignore the obvious. Wash up at the end of the day. Soap and water or clean wipes are an easy solution to this problem.
d
BlazeAway,
Its bad form to call you with that information as I'm sure it could have waited until your next work day. Keep the faith.
d
koffar,
I used the Nite Ize Stainless-Steel S-Biner Size 1. They are small, light, and durable.
d
dj,
I've had the same problem in cold weather. I switched to using a wool blanket covered by a light fleece throw.
d
Adding a 1/2 pound of weight in the form of a bivy is reasonable as a safety precaution. Problems occur and accidents happen and I wouldn't go on a trip without one.

Has anybody used the Farrimond Friciton Hitch to tie off their hammock?
If so, was there any negatives?
d
I do both but if I'm hiking I like to have a scenic goal to accomplish otherwise I like to hang.

I'm going with the wife and niece so heading up to the cold North isn't a good idea but the moderate weather on the Cape is fine. When I'm having seafood for lunch I'll think of you ;)....
I'll be heading to Cape Cod for an over night stay. I'll be there for the New Year's celebration and hiking in the piney woods.
d
Fron,
I won't post here any longer.

My comments weren't posted with bad intentions or to be a <jerk>. I'm just pointing out the folly of youth. All of us that played hard in our early years had to learn the hard way. My folly required...
rbinhood you're wasting your time. 20 somethings only learn what a bad idea something was/is when they have to visit the hospital.

Using a rope with a harness doesn't really need to be said does it? What is the point of these elevated hangs? Maybe I'm getting old but the negatives vastly outweigh the positives,...
For safety you should invest in a climbing harness. It'll cost you $50.00 for the harness but it will save your life if you need it. A fall from 70' will mostly likely be fatal and if it isn't...
I received my new Warbonnet today. The quality is outstanding as was the service and I can't wait until I get out into the woods.

When I was a little db144 I used a candle for sealing seams. I would drag the candle over the seams until a uniform layer covered each seam. This sealed the seams effectively until it wore off with...
Thanks RootCause and I'm sure that will be the case.

I called Brandon at WB today to ask for a quick shipment as I'd like to hang next weekend, the 17th and 18th, so he adjusted my shipment to ensure I'd receive it by Friday the 16th. Responsive...

Shug,
How many hammocks do you have?
d
Knowing beforehand or just unlucky as I've been in places where it was not possible to hang a hammock.
d
Shug during the night would you snuggle with your hammock? :)
d
If you wind up in a location where you cannot hang a hammock what do you do?
d
I took the plunge and ordered a WB Traveler DL 1.1

To those that use a DD Frontline hammock, do you like or dislike the hammock? I'd like to know the pros and cons.
Thanks,
