Amazing as usual. I'll be out there getting another 30 miles in within a few weeks myself. Something about Vermont.

Seems like a good deal for $115. Same price as an 11' netless hammock with a bottom entry bugnet from his site.
He has alot of personality thats for sure. lol
Last I heard Rob is doing well, just been busy with life.
Thanks, my son still talks about the ruins every day. Its called the 'Overlook Mountain House'. Not sure if that was its historic name, but thats what everyone calls it now.
Fun trip my son and I took over the summer. Looking forward to going back here in the winter too, awesome spot.

So I'm definitely hiking in from atsion, around 4-5ish, with my son. See you there
Im a possbilty, ill try to pull some strings
Looks like I'll be arriving in the late afternoon with my squad. Me and 3 kids.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I had snowshoes with me but never used them. It was only about 8" of really light snow. I wore NEOS overshoes over my Asics trailrunners and they kept me dry and warm.
We camped at Mullica River Camp. A 5.5 mile hike in from Atsion.

Overnight trip Jmboh and I did in early January. Winter Storm Warnings in effect and temperatures got down to the single digits. Great time.
Mullica River trail to beaver pond, there is a cut off there and it's posted. I'm planning on getting to Atsion around 1 with my son if you want to hike in.
Room for 2 more hiking in?
Trust me, this group is always willing to help someone out. If I was positive I was going, I'd offer to pick you up from the Riverline. But Im not sure, and I'm not sure on what time I'll go, if I...
Wow, I thought I just about heard everything. maybe it has more to do with the attitude than the address?
Id order one if they still offered them in 1.0 as I like the design and features, but was told they 'not too interested in doing anymore of the single layers in 1.0 or 1.1 fabrics'. Maybe someday...
Well said Shug, youre a gentleman and a scholar.
Nice Yeti. Makes me reminisce about my ARC-LT I build in the 90s. I fit and ordered many custom framesets for people in my bike industry days (Serotta, Waterford, Frank the Welder, etc) but not...
I think their business models are completely different and its hard to compare. Dutch has always prided himself on the quick delivery of his products. If he was to continue that approach he needed...
How many additional non-cosmetic features does one have to add not to be considered copying any longer? I cant remember if it was a conversation I had with Dutch or a post on this forum but it was...
Parking in Atsion. Its a pretty straightforward hike in from there, just follow the yellow blazes. Its 5.5 miles if I remember correctly. Beaver Pond is the highlight of the hike. I have site 2...
Grabbed a site for Saturday night at Mullica River. Plan on hiking (or snowshoeing, depending on weather)in around noon. Have a few sirloin steaks to bring and who knows what else. Forecast to get...
If its a remote location, and camp isnt visible from the trail, Ill leave my stuff set up. In the backcountry I'll willing to take that chance that no one is going to want to hike out with my gear,...
Pine barrens always get colder than the surrounding areas, especially on clear windless nights. Hung there Saturday night and my thermometer read 45° at sunrise...a few degrees colder than forecast.
My son will be there
Grabbed site 10 last minute if anyone wants to join. Supposed to get down into the mid 40s overnight. Looking forward to it.
I usually bring a small piece of 3 mil plastic sheet, about 2'x3'.
If the wife isnt on call that weekend, I'll be there!
Being mean is easy. Its easy to be mean to someone you don't agree with. It usually takes effort to be nice to those people. So mean people, aside from being jerks, are lazy and uninventive. ...
Mine has approximately 18 nights in it and some day time napping. Im not rough with it, but not purposely treating it more delicately than any other hammock. No damage to report.
Short answer, yes you will be cold. Wont die, but certainly wont enjoy your night and probably wont sleep much. Get or borrow a cheap 40° sleeping bag and youll be good to go. As others noted,...
I dont claim to know that specific water source, but I will say I would be skeptical of most of the streams flowing this time of year. Every time Ive been there in the summer, last or this year, all...
I dont know why he just doesnt notify people in advance that your tarp order might be up to 3 months wait. A huge part of eliminating complaints is setting proper expectations. I honestly...
Get them their own, thats what I did.
My daughter used my Incubator 0 on a summer night that only got down to around 62 or so. She slept with a fleece blanket for a top quilt and claimed she was comfortable.
Both times Ive done that loop, with her and once in the winter, it was going clockwise...i cant compare the directions personally, but that hike up Wittenberg from Woodland Valley is a rough way to...
This is a great loop, its really fun in the winter. My wife and I did this loop too, in 1.5 days. It was her first backpacking trip and she wanted to push me off a cliff around half way through day...

Speed and ease of use. My 9 year old daughter can set up her own hammock now using Dutch Clips and cinch buckles without asking for help. I still havent gotten them for myself, but thats changing...
Not much better than spending time in the woods with the kids! Thanks for sharing
He slept well. Woke up once, but thats not uncommon even when home. He was sleeping on a walmart blue CCF pad for insulation underneath, and my REI Sub Kilo bag for a top quilt. Overnight lows...

I'm pretty certain we have plans this weekend that would prevent that. I'm gonna play it by ear with the weather for tonight.
Likely between 9-10pm
Grabbed site 2 for Friday night. Gonna head out late and night hike in, feel free to join in.
Ear plugs will stop most of those sounds from hurting you.
Ive got Site 4 for Saturday night. Me and my son will be there if anyone else wants to join or stop by.
I found holding you arms out with hiking poles works great. If you can touch the trees its too close. Honestly though once you hang a few times you will just be able to tell.
Id vote for site 8. Ive liked it best out of all the sites Ive stayed at. Most private and far enough from the well that the squeaking from the pump is bearable.
Im out, my wife just texted me her allergies are killing her today so it might be a little selfish to expect her to go spend a night in the woods. Hope everyone has a good night!
