Yeah, most of my hiking is in SoCal. I think "3 season" would be fine around here during winter unless I go up to the Sierras.
Just ordered a 3 season yeti.
My blackbird only took 2 weeks to arrive, hopefully the yeti will get here in a similar timeframe.
I have the full length GG Thinlight but was wondering if I should cut it? The whole thing is 1.8oz. Was thinking about getting a thicker version and cutting it for a backpad to fit in my ULA conduit.
Which UQ(s) are you using?
What I want to know is.. who can make me a 3-season 2/3 UQ with momentum or pertex quantum with 5-7oz down fill weighing in at 9-11oz?
Does anyone know the weight and temp rating on Leigh's 2/3 quilts?
I'm a bit aprehensive about using a 2/3 vs a 3/4. Thoughts?
Warbonnet 3-season Yeti - 11.5oz (5.5 fill) includes stuff sack
Perfect Trees Crow's Nest - 18oz (9oz fill) includes stuff sack + suspension
Te-wa Standard - 13oz (fill unknown)
Tim Marshall...
can someone please make a peapod that weighs less than 30oz or so?
=P
I've been up Cuyamaca but it wasn't too far of a hike. Maybe I'll just start at the border and do as much PCT as I can on a weekend and start where I left off the next time. Been to San Jacinto or...
I would also like to buy a pair of Dutch clips. Will pay paypal.
Let me know: [email protected] or here.
Hello thar! My name's Josh and I'm from SD as well (Clairemont Mesa/Linda Vista). I'm just getting into hammocking and have a WB Blackbird in the mail :D
Do you know of any places locally that...
6-8 week wait time :(
make me some clips!
how much fill should be used for a 3 season UQ? I was looking at Stormcrow's site and noticed that his 3/4 has 9oz of fill. That seems like a lot, there is less than 9oz of fill...
Yeah, that sounds like what I'm looking for. I can't believe you mutilated a Nunatak quilt though! How dare you
Does anyone make these?
Thoughts?
Thanks.
Are you talking about this one? http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=59
Or the $90 one linked in the original post?
They're pretty tough to find considering the US' trade embargo.
Where do you get the beaks? I saw the picture of it in your profile, looks neat!
Anyone own this? Does it offer enough coverage?
Thanks.

Just ordered my 1.0 double (coyote).
Whats the wait like now?
Anyone try stomach sleeping in the blackbird?
Too much weight, most likely.
I want the option of stealth camping while still in the UltraLight realm.
I don't stop and think "am I allowed to camp here?" before camping, so I'll just assume I'm...
Would this size be big enough for the Blackbird?
Any pictures of the cat-tail brown tarp?
Thanks!
As you can see this is made specifically for Hennessy Hammocks. What would have to be changed about this to make it work for the Blackbird? Or would it work as is?

Well, this particular costume designer is unemployed and would probably jump at the opportunity to make a few bucks if I provided her the materials, showed her the DIY info and explained what I...
I would also be interested in a flat olive drab type color.
I live across the country from my mama!
I really don't want to ruin the expensive fabric or even waste my time (I don't have an abundance of it) when there is someone that can do it a whole lot...
What is the lightest (under 10z) hammock tarp that either comes in camo or can be customed to be in a camo pattern.
I really liked the hammock covers Attroll (?) made in the marine digital camo...
The MLD Spectralite Hex Hammock tarp is 6.4oz ^_~
Just a tad bit smaller than the MacCat Deluxe.
I weigh about 180lbs.
How durable is the single 1.1 Blackbird?
17oz - single 1.1
15oz - Shenandoah UQ
=32oz
Reasoning: full length UQ to cover legs because of no pad for insulation.
25 miles per day is a relaxed pace.
I may actually go for the record next year.
I'm a marathon runner and did a lot of extreme long distance rucking/night + day land nav in the militay.
What are the best (hammock) tarp manufacturers that will use a camo pattern? I emailed the MacCat guy about this and received no response.
With a 15 degree rated top quilt and 3/8" or 1/4"...
I'm totally new but I'd be up for it, I'm sure I'd learn a lot :)
Thanks for the link Take-a-knee, a lot of good info on that site. I loved the "Gear Rant".
On his Gear list it says that after september he uses a golite down parka, i was wondering if you could use...
Has anyone tried bunk beds? My GF and I both want Blackbirds, I was thinking if i helped her up she'd be able to sleep up top.
If this were (safe) and possible would 1 deluxe maccat be able to...
QUESTION!
Which would be more durable, the double 1.1 Blackbird or the single 1.7?
I like the added bonus of being able to put an insulating pad between the 1.1 layers, but if the 1.7 is more...
Has anyone used the No Sniveller in place of a down jacket in cold weather? Please share! : )
I would guess that to have the No Sniveller replace the down jacket you'd have to use it as a poncho liner so that it is protected from rain/snow. Would this be correct? Would having the No Sniv...

If I had the Typhoon Buff would I still need a down balaclava?

I weigh about 180lbs.
As of right now on my spreadsheet I've got the JRB...
Lori - I guess you're right about the Arc AT, for some reason I thought it said it would be rated down much lower if you wore the Down Jacket on top and that the 40 degree rating was if you just used...
Are the bear canisters required by NPS? I could go with the Ursack if I didn't think there'd be any trees for the "PCT method" of hanging foodsacks.
Any opinions on the MacCat Spinn VS Sil?
For the kitchen set:
Platypus 4L Tank (3.6)
Platypus 2L Bottle (1.3)
In addition to these I'll pick up Sports Drink bottles as I need them
Caldera Keg GVP (2.6)
I don't drink coffee, cider,...
