This is what I do.

I have a trash bag liner & with an empty pack I unhook one end of the hammock with quilts in place and start stuffing until it's all in my pack.

I got August in at BSA camp Rainey Mountain for the eclipse viewing yesterday.

I think this completes 2 years without missing a month....

Grommet tarps generally are cheap & tough which is what young scouts need.

I just made a bug bivy to go under a tarp or in a shelter because of rules in the Smokies.

Be aware that Philmont won't allow tarps or bivy camping and you are required to have an enclosed tent.
