Well I'm a Scout Master with my younger sons and go out once a month. My oldest is not in scouts, and I'm looking for more technicaly challenging weekend trip that.
Any place to take my 16 year old to backpack into and hang. Just looking to hookup with other enthusiasts.
I've probably got a dozen or more setups, and I'm always playing with one thing or the other. So one hammock might only have 1 or 2 nights in it.
Anyone up for a hang?
Well, I'm 6ft 220lbs been making my hammocks for yrs out of 1.1 various ripstop material. Never had a problem. In fact the first backpacking setup I made is almost 10yrs old and it's still my go to...
So I stumbled onto an original Singer 15-91 at my local thrift store for $30.00. My local thread injector wizard wants $60.00 to make it new again. Hes been in business for 62 years, should I let him...

All Okies welcome to join and a few from surrounding states, lol.

Once I have survived Summer Camp with my Troop, just to busy getting the new boys up to speed for the week, I'll get back to picking a actual date for the hang.
The insulation is the same for both bags, the black is just thicker and heavier. I'll send you pics of my system. We have had snow and temps in the 20's every weekend our BSA Troop has gone out. I've...
Good job, now you'll be nice and toasty
I've been down to -13* in my system on a deployment. In my moded hammock version 8*. Now you have to wear the right layers still with this system per the training. Before I moded my system I would be...
Well, so do I.
Beaver Bend it is then, I have not been there yet.
Now let's get some dates from everybody. Let's get everybody's preferred dates on here so I can get a site scheduled, besides I do...
Who do you think you are " Clark Kent "! I hope not, id rather be " Superman " Lol
Take lots of pics and have fun
Sweet, I want one. To bad I make most of my own gear. Bummer
Your pocket book is our amusement, lol
Awesome trip, wish I could have been there.
Very nice, yea I'm the onlyone that would love my sewing to.
I modded my poncho liner into a 3/4 UQ. Only one layer. Keeps it pack able. I've been down into the 30s with it once. I didn't freeze but slept well.
I modified my sleep system bags with no zippers. Crept the hoods, every once in a while I'll tuck under at night when it gets to drafty. But works as a hood.
Sucker, your hooked in now! Lol
Welcome
My brain hurts, lol
I'm in for a group too!!!
It will rub off in time.

Quick question, how does the Taslite nylon compare to typical rip stop nylon? And is 100% nylon?
Sucess!!!
UQ: was able to cut inner black bag from end of the zippers to the seam of the foot box. Then seam rip the end piece out to lay it all flat. Cut both sides zippers off to make a dimension...
I love my kids, all six of them & my wife and grandma. But it cost a lot to outfit so many. So here is my solution.
So for all the rest of the vets here. Who else has a boat load of demilitarized...
Troop 75 Moore OK, I'm the only one that hangs full time. 4 others bring them on backpacking trips just to use as chairs, they carry there tents too. Some day they will learn to ditch the heavy stuff.
Has anyone tried to use one of these bed chair covers for a top cover.
Or do you know what kind of waterproof polyester they use to make it?

Well, I stumbled across an HH Expedition at local swap meet a couple months ago. Lets just say it was steal. The best $40 bucks I have ever spent for a great nights sleep camping. My knee's and back...
