4-5-6th of Feb interest anyone for an "unofficial" hangout? Both or one of either is good for me.
Monadnock may be a suitable hanging area, other areas are up for discussion too for the, um......

I'm definitively open to anything!
I like the Monadnock idea, I live relatively close to there myself - Manchester CT, and have hiked it several times.
I would also love to try an UQ since I have...
cool thanks, i'm off to the army navy store to check them out.
I don't think I would sew my liner to the hammock though, warm summer nights I like having the breeze on my back! :)
just came back from a solo 2 night, 2 day trip - with food and water (2.5L) my total skin out weight (total weight minus butt-nekid weight) was around 28 lbs. I could make it a bit lighter since I...
I voted for 25*, then realized it was 1" thick, not the standard "close-to-1/2" walmart CCF pad. I am comfy into the 20's with just that and no other insulation.
back to boose's question, what does this thing weigh? i have tried on a jacket liner and it was pretty light, but i was not able to ounce it out.
i would be interested in picking up a poncho...
ps i followed the suggested ratios recommended somewhere on this site or WB, i think it was 1 part sealer, 3 parts thinner, by weight, not by volume.
could be wrong though, i am not looking at the...
i've been doing the same for a while, except that i noticed that with high use stuff items, like sacks and seams, the silicone sealant would eventually flake off like dead skin. This has happened...
hey bmike, that sounds like a nice place - lets put this off until early-mid spring (when does black fly season "officially" start? - early may or so?) when most of us will be more comfortable and...
ouch!! hope you recover quickly!!
yeah that might be a bit awkward explaining to your boss where you were while picking pine needles out of your hair....
so i cut it 32 inches wide by 48 long.. i'm going to need to make a nylon sheath/cover for it as i doubt i'll be able to readjust easily once my weight is on it while hanging. unless you manage to...
nice, thanks for the info guys, i'll be looking for one shortly...
if you guys have any suggestions as to a "Northern HF Hangout" area and time we should look into setting something up!
yeah - i can't decide on the best cut for my new 1/4" GG pad - hopefully I will get some suggestions on the thread i started... otherwise I'll ground it tomorrow night. Honestly, I enjoy tenting...
i'm leaving tomorrow to do the tyringham - ? section, just an overnighter if anyone wants to join up.
im also open to anywhere else too, just wanting to get out
i don't think you have to do anything to them... i have not seen or worn the pants though`
ah good point!
How do they compare to Micro Puff P.O, MB UL inner liner or MH Compressor type of jackets in terms of warmth?
I have been looking at replacing an insulating layer and the Field Liner was a smack...
or 10.... or 20....
I'm catching up a bit late, consider me flexible and don't mind if the shipping is more than the bags
i'll take 4 to test out
I know hammockers are in rare supply up here (check the map)...
just curious to know if there are any others in the area - i would like to set up a "hangout" sometime this winter...
REI and EMS are my eye candy. Then I go to salvation army/online and get something cheaper :)
I have the luxury of living 1 hour away from an outfitter who carries WM gear, and while I can't...
Having recently purchased the Gossamer Gear 1/4" wide pad, I have been struck with the sheer size of the beast. Light as a feather but HUGE!!
Apart from trimming the length way down, what...
ditto with the ccf pads. i have a trimmed wally world pad (shoulder to knee with rounded edges) and it gets strapped to the outside. the only pain is that then my pack cover won't fit over it. I...
sweet, im gonna try it just to see... it may be a bit hot and stuffy though,, :)
has anyone tried to make a minimalist bivy sac out of 1.1oz DWR? basically a bag cover to keep the dew/fog off, without the weight or set up required with a sock/weathershield? i have tons of it...
grant from GG responded to my email and will be receiving shipment of the 1/4" wide pads this week, WHOO HOO!!!
darn i wish they had the 3/8" in wide..
thanks, that was a great help.
i wish the 3/8ths came in wide, but i'll have to order two and duct tape some wings like some else mentioned
hey all,
i just finished an email to grant, went online to purchase one and was confronted with the big red print.
as far as temp rating goes, is there a final verdict regarding the thickness which...

hey teedee,
i received the webbing yesterday and have been tinkering with it quite a bit. it is stiffer than the nylon webbing i had previously and similar in weight, i have not weighed it using...
ditto, bights on both ends, larks head over the existing knot from the original HH ridgeline, another over biner. those little stock loops are pretty tough.
I had been wondering about the same...
