I think i found what i was looking for into Zpacks.com website.
Hi.
I try to find someplace to buy Line-lok (the one for tent and tarp tensionning) and Zing-it or similar rope. Lawson doesn't have Line-lok in stock right now.
Thanks!
The mess kit is gone to the first buyer.
Thanks.
You are second in line. I will let you know if the deal fall.
I'll send a PM
Still working to downsize for my one year south american bicycle trip. More general camping-backpacking stuff than light stuff, even a few item a bit outside of backpacking but someone here might be...
My wife and i are slowly preparing for our 2013 one year south america bicycle trip. We will sell everything including our house so we are downsizing from now. ...
I'll make a 9X12 mock-up tarp to see how it would be. Don't want to use my sil to build something who doesn't suit me.
I have built some paper model to play with.
I am thinking a 9' X 12' tarp right now. It could give me lots of rigging option. With the 12' ridgeline, it can give a fully enclosed Winter tarp...
I usually hem edge. I a not sure i understand bind it. Do yo mean you bind grosgrain webing over unhemed silnylon edge? If so, you get grosgrain webing (binding), silnylon, grosgrain webing (binded)...
Hi.
I have read a lot of thread about tarp and still can't decide. Too much choice? I have already worked with silnylon and will use this time again. Here what i'll do with my tarp:
Solo...
When i tried, i wrap to the biner 3 times and get back to the three and again to the biner (wrap 3 times) and 2 half hitch. Friction should be enough. It was not.
Tried it with a biner this morning. I was almost late so this test will have to be done again.
With a pear shape roundish rated biner, it was still slipping (less) until i double the rope to the...
Thanks for the picture. I could not see the first one BUT i can't see Flickr picture here so it was on my side.
Paul, i don't see a link. Is it supposed to be there (I am a visual learner!).
Thanks!
Thanks.
I'll try a biner since my 4 SMC rings are on the hammock suspension. Will buy some more. They are handy and weight is low.
What do you suggest as a suitable ring? At worst, could a small biner work?
Thanks!
Hi.
I have been using the Trucker hitch + 2 half hitches to rig canoes on my car for years.
Today I rigged a tarp continuous ridge line with AHE utility line (nice stuff!) and since i don't...
I have sewn a new one with brand new polyester (cheap). Same whipping... no ripping! Maybe heat broke the fiber of the previous one. Will not do the same error again!
Maybe the previous knotting gave abrasion to the fabric. I had not used it a lot but the original knot whas pretty tough to undo. One thing i just remembered: it was very crumpled when undone. I...
Hi.
2 years ago, i bought some cheap polyester from Wallmart. I took 10 feet and knotted it. I hung in it for sleeping one night and a lot of afternoon break. It was ugly but fun. This year, i...
Any pics somewhere of the hybrid?
Thanks!
Hi.
I need 6 feet of high strenght and thin rope. Something like amsteel or Aircore Plus (at least 1000lbs breaking strenght). I could buy from BPL but i only need 6 -8 feet right now.
Let me...
I think i will take the Claytor Mosquito Hammock road. I want dual layer for sure (pad) .I may need to go to the ground. I am not sure but will have to begin hammocking while bike touring to know....
Hi.
Do you know where i could find Amsteel blue rope and 1" polyester webbing in Canada? At worst i will order in USA but in my own country would be easier (customs) and cheaper.
Thanks!
So about 30-31 oz?
I try to figure if sewing a double layers is worth it compared to a Claytor Mosquito. The setup you are selling at 2lbs 11oz complete with tarp (if i remember correctly) is not...
Hi.
I find the Claytor MH really interesting and priced low (i want to begin hammocking). Could you tell me real life weight of it (without tarp)?
Thanks!
Hi.
I took time to read as much as i can here before asking question. Still a lot of things i am not sure to fully understand. I mainly do bicycle touring (as lightly loaded as possible) with a...
