I am 6'1" and about 185.....I definitely find the Explorer a bit more comfortable and easy to 'get flat' than I do with the Exped (my wife's hammock).
But for what it's worth, I find the Blackbird...
Yeah, I broke down and got one as well. Tried to resist..I am weak!!!
Virtually always solo, unless you count my dog. Best hiking companion ever!
However, in extreme winter conditions, I DO leave him at home.....
Klaatu:
If you just use tubing (without the line inside it), you run the risk that the tubing snaps (especially as it ages) and leaves you with an unsecured corner (at least), or whips around and...
I have a prototype Yeti (down)....works GREAT, very small and light.
Do what I do...
1) just stop thinking about it and buy it.
2) Then say "OK, that's IT....no new gear for a while." ...
My first hammock was this spring...My first exposure was a googling of camping hammocks. I LOOKED at the Hennessey site first, then arrived here and ordered a Blackbird. Phenomenal hammock....liked...
I took my Yeti out over the weekend....first UQ I ever tried. Was a little skeptical that it was gonna be effective (too short, too light) but that thing is GREAT!!! Amazed how much warmth it...

But we don't need no stinking...
Greylock area would be nice (because it's close to me!)...I would do my best to attend that one. Vermont is pretty good as well....and is actually part of New England as well, which I would assume...
Spent a few nights in mine....you fall asleep so fast the color just doesn't matter! Just buy one, even if all he has in stock is neon pink!!!
Actually I really like the looks of the grey....more...
I got the ridge line organizer as welll as the gear pocket organizer...both are real high quality, top notch stuff. I would endorse anything these guys do......
Just tell her you ARE going...remember, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission!
Hi all..
Got out on the Long Trail in Vermont over the weekend...did about 20 miles. Had the Blackbird and McCat tarp setup, along with my hiking partner (the muddy dog).
Overnite temps in the...

I am 6'2", 185 pounds, so not too far off from you in size. I have the exact same Hennessey hammock, as well as a Blackbird. In general, I find the BB easier to get stretched out...
Friday it got down to about 45, so not too cold. Had a very thin Western Mountaineering bag ((the Highlite....one pound!) ...
Hello All...
Been a ground dweller until I started reading a bit about these hammock things. Based upon research here, bought myself a Blackbird 1.1 double. Tried it out Friday night...pouring...
