"Hello James M,

Or you could just buy the Clark and be very happy with it.....
I've been down to 35 with just a Mountain Hardwear Lamina UL bag (32 deg rated) with my stuff in the pockets. Had the weather shield...
Yep, I'm told that I'd fit in the "new" NA. My older version is too small. I have an NX 200 which is very nice.
Something hasn't been mentioned. If you use a "new" build, you'll be fine. The older version did use the tarp as suspension for the hood and the lower. It's not a big deal, you can suspend the...
I have an NX 200, doesn't have the hoops, but basically the same bed. PM me if you want to try to work something out at least to try it.
I'll add this. I'm a fellow paddler, all my stuff is canoe or kayak. Well, 90%. I found out about Clark Jungle Hammocks from Water Tribe. If you're familiar with them and want bomb proof gear,...
Leaves work. I've been down to 35, 32 deg rated bag with gear stuffed in the pockets. I had the storm shield about 3/4 closed, but I was fine. Mine is an NX 200, dont' make those any more because...

I know, I was incredibly bummed when I discovered this.
Yeah that 10% didn't work out too well last night :)
I have something for my daughter this eve and some urgent things tomorrow which may take me to just stopping by the day on Saturday. Hope...

You'll have the Weaverton Cliffs climb, but you'd have that anyway.
I didn't see a change in itinerary. If it's Pine Knob, it's not really that much of a hill, Demeter. There's a trail to it bearing left before the bigger climb. If you climb the hill to the other...
If y'all need rides....I'm like 10 min from Gathland and maybe 40 min from Pen Mar, so I can shuttle someone without much trouble if needed on the weekend. Weekday would take a bit more planning...
That would be the upper limit, though I think that might be a bit too much. As I said, I've noticed it decreases my "optimal" tree spacing down at least a pace, if not a pace and a half. This isn't...
You never know when you may have to outfit a platoon of visiting Flemish Home Guard or something. I'd just call you almost fully prepared :)
I have noticed my clarks hang differently than others,...
And the engineer would tell you that there are too many variables and just design a safety factor into it ;)
I sleep typically with my legs crossed at the ankles, occasionally in the Ian...
In order...
I don't get pressure from ridges on calves, but I don't have that problem with any hammock I've tried yet so it may be me.
There isn't a foot box as such, though with the NX 200 I have...
That doesn't work for me, cant' get all the way zipped.
Honestly, I just use a sleeping bag with the croc roll technique. I get in, roll to the right, pull up the left side, roll to the left, pull up the right. I use the clark pockets, and if I need...
So, you did post in the right place..so we could tell you that you could simply use a clark with the pockets and forgo the pad :)
I'll have to call you on that one. I've had no dealings with Claytor, but I've been looking at one for a friend so I'm sorry to see this kind of response.
I have had some experiences with...
Sounds good, was up there last weekend so won't be this weekend. Need to figure out how to make that money stuff work out to just move :)
And based on our experience, it was rigorously enforced....rigorously.. ;)
I'm in, on the sheet. Wondering if there's any interest in a half day paddle trip, there are a couple places within firing distance on the Potomac. Shepherdstown for an up and back thing or...
I have the other boat confirmed with 2.
I've got myself (two people, one boat, grumpyoldtiger here is in the bow seat) and one other boat with 2 people committed, one boat with two people probable.

One of the group :)
It was a good time, did the Fish Ponds loop the next morning and got back late last night. Hopefully will catch another one sometime.
After using this weekend and looking again might be 1.5mm. Bigger than one.
That is what they're doing with the "new" suspension for the non hoop models, too, just FYI.
1.75mm zing it or "lash it" if you want to match the clark color scheme and use grey. Same thing, just different colors.
I never had an issue with rope stretch with the stock ropes, probably more...
Think it's 1mm, 1.5 seems stout. Good on gray though.
b cuz u hvnt tried :)
And I think I was the one who gave you the expanded version, Demostix is the one with hair.
See, my crazy idea would be to take some carbon fabric....a few 2x2's...and some shrink wrap fabric. Basically, encapsulate the 2x2's use them as a form for the carbon, give it a couple layers like...
And here I thought you were talking about the testicle eating fish =:O
I have one with WS's that Stu made. He's a great guy and makes a great product. With the "new" system on my NX200, it won't work nearly so well, and I'm actually satisfied with the drip ring...
I resemble that remark.
Sucks with the knee. I played for Navy for a while, but Judo pulled me away. Kind of feeling a bit nervous with all the stuff on concussions, as I had about 12 over the...
Si, claro.
I don't use a thermarest, what Demos is saying is that if you use a bag, you'll get about the same as a deflated thermorest out of it, which is probably valid. What the thermorest does...
I have a love/hate relationship with that feeling. Invariably it's mid week and I can't use it till the weekend :D
Enjoy it when you get there, my contribution for recommendation is to pay...
I don't have a '50 series, but from my NA and 200 I can say that Clarks tend to be more fussy about the angle than my other hammocks. They want it closer to 30, where the others I can flatten it out...
After reading the rest of the thread....my $0.02.
Loving that 1.75mm Zing it. As for knots, a rolling hitch with four on the support side and two on the load side (Call it a "doubled rolling...
True, some make whoopies.....
Yeah, but I'm evil, I order on a Sunday and ship to a PO Box. We'll see how that goes ;)
That's the reason why I sleep in a Clark with the mosquito proof bed. I gave it a pretty good test in the BWCAW a couple weeks ago, came through with flying colors.
If you've treated, maybe...
I was in an MSR Hubba when alone (very nice solo tent, still use it when going to music festivals and the like where you're camping in a picnic area with no trees...haven't built stands yet). When...
Need to fix the link, the link takes you to an empty cart.
"The four storage pockets now include flaps which prevent poisonous spiders from descending inside. "
Great, never worried about that at all......before I read this.....
I'll take it, sending you a PM.
I made myself a 30 ridgeline out of 1.75mm, put a WSling in each end, through 'biners. For tarp tie outs, I really like the tautline hitch, benefits of the prusik but you tie off the end with it.
Now that is something one needs to prepare for! Acclimating to their presence, etc... ;)
