I was looking at some ripstop on ebay, and if I was reading if right I could 10 yards of 40D waterproof ripstop for $46.00. Would this be proper material for a hammock? Or would it be to lightweight?...

That is great info, I'll check them out. I rigged up an old sleeping bag as an underquilt for my daughter lastnight. She said she slept great and was "roasty toasty"
