Good Idea. I think they are called lynch pins. Definitely peace of mind knowing they won't slip out. I usually use twigs I find on the ground and sometimes wonder if they'll hold.

I used to flip the hammock upside down and put a blanket in the bugnet. You might be able to do the same with a pad. Of course, this doesn't work when you need the bugnet over you.

I usually don't use a ridgeline, but I'm thinking of putting one under the tarp. The reinforcment sounds good but mostly because I need a spot to hang my pants when they get wet.

I've tried a few times but it always ends up flipping over on itself. It still held but is very difficult to remove. Maybe a half hitch on the tail would stop this from happening?
